Acer aspire 4720z overheating problem. had this problem for a while about a year ago and then it stopped. now it has started again. currently i am running a core temp monitor i watch the temp go up hear the fan come on but temp still climbs. at 98c it comp shuts off. please any way to fix this?

Have you ever blown the dust out of it ?
buy a can of air from walmart

The CPU Cooler does not seem to be doing its job properly. I would suggest you use a laptop Cooling Pad. It is a tray for your laptop and has a number of cooling fans to keep your laptop well circulated.

Blowing the vents & fans out weekly and using a laptop cooler under my Toshiba, lowered the temp from68° C to 29° C. I haven't had a shutdown since spending the $25.

Sounds like an internal problem. Only way to get it sorted is either by a new one or take to pc shop where it can be opened and repaired. Sorry..I no thats not the answer you want, but better safe than sorry. Hope this helps...
