Power Supplies usually don't get faulty. Sometimes my BIOS would get stuck & I plug the Lithium Battery (Coin Cell) out and plug it back in & Everything works fine. For example this problem is like having a USB storage stuck at copying/deleting something and you have to PULL IT OUT and PLUG IT IN to make it work again. Sometimes this type of problem may occur with SATA Cables, the one who connect motherboard with harddisk. Sometimes the ram would get faulty. Process remains the same. In 10 Years of my computing history I don't remember facing any problems with Power Supply Unit.

Hope this is revelant.

Green blinking light following a power outage

I rebuild the DM power supply in these sets with about a 50% success rate. Sometimes changing the 7 1000uf caps on the small power supply in the DM will fix it, you'll also have to solder the small 8 pin ICs as well. Do this carefully as you do not want an accidental bridge. If this does not fix your problem, replace the DM-POWER board not the DM Assembly. It's about a 300 dollar difference. You'll need a mitsubishi authorized service center to order the part for you. Goodluck.

Not powering on after power outage

Hello,

Sometimes after a power outage, some power supplies can take a hit but will not provide the needed voltage to operate your pc. In this case you should replace the power supply. For future protection, connect your pc to a power strip or power source with surge protection. This will range in price from $7 to hundreds depending on how much you need to protect and your budget.

Power supply or motherboard problem?

Hi talissap,

The blinking light is telling you something about the PSU. First check any AC mains voltage select switches for proper setting. US should be 115. Second if you have a multimeter, you could test the PSU for voltage. Disconnect all power to all components. remove all components from the board including cpu, memory . Leave the PSU only plugged into the board. Press power. If the fan turns on then it's not the power supply. The brand power supply isn't the best, I've seen where you need to wait for 5-20 minutes for the blinking to stop, at which time it will fire up. Now, if it doesn't power up, then it's most likely the PSU.

Good Luck,

Mark

We had a power outage, and now our sony vaio vgc-rb52 desktop computer won't start. Power switch doesn't turn computer on, and there is a blinking green light on the back of the computer.

As long as the light is blinking, the PC does work. There should be a switch on the power supply (On the back of the case) Try flicking this on and off while the PC is connected to the power grid. Then try treboot the PC. Else, you culd try to cear the CMOS on your PC. If you don't know what that is, post the model of your motherboard, and I'll see if I can find it on pictures.

After a power outage, tried to power computer. All I got was flashing keyboard and power light while I held in the power button. As soon as I let go, everything goes dard. No start up sounds or anything....

Sounds like it could be the power supply was damaged from the power outage. If you have another PC you could pull the ATX power supply out and install it in the gateway and see if it boots up. Power supplies are fairly inexpensive so look for an aftermarket one...buying a replacement from Gateway will cost alot more. If the power supply turns out to be good then remove one device at a time the try to boot up. Sometimes a bad cd-rom drive or harddrive can cause a problem. My best guess it is the power supply.

Dell Dimension 5150 does not start

Could be a number of things, First take the ram out and then put it back in and see if that helps. next I would unplug any devices not required to start the computer.
You need to be familiar with the inside of the computer to do this.
Most likely suspect however is the power supply.
