I would suggest you to run a SFC scan on the computer.
1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. The access the drive by typing command for example - if you are facing trouble in C drive type C:

2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
sfc /scannow
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

My Laptop is Dellstudio15,When I swith on my laptop is showing error while booting it self is: Check date and time settings,System CMOS Checksum is Bad.Please help on this.

This error message means that its time for you to replace you CMOS battery.

CMOS battery is a small battery on the system board that provides power to the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) chip, even while the computer is turned off. This chip contains information about the system configuration (e.g., hard disk type, floppy drive types, date and time, and the order in which the computer will look for bootable disks). The CMOS battery allows the CMOS to preserve these settings.

Hope this information willbe helpful. Thank you for using FIXYA.

I have two Denso BHT-6000 hand held scanners that we have not used in some years. Now we need to use them once again. However, they will not power on even after replacing with new AAA batteries.

There is a good chance that the internal battery is in need of replacement.

We will provide a free analysis and estimate of repair costs for all DENSO.

My 2002 celica won't start. making a clicking noise. the battery is good. do I need a new starter? or solenoid?

If its a nippon denso starter you need solenoid contacts (low cost repair if you find your local starter repair man)
If your the handy type once you have got the starter off
remove the tin cover (3 screws) the contacts are inside

Stop c0000218 registry failure

This will sometimes happen with a Windows XP installation when either the hardware in not compatible with the operating system...or the hard drive is damaged.

Use the recovery console to confirm that the hard disk or file system Is not damaged loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); Important We recommend that only advanced users or administrators use the Recovery Console.

Note Only the Administrator account can access the Recovery Console.
  1. Start your computer from the Windows XP CD drive. If prompted, select any options that you must select to start from the CD drive.

Note To start your computer from the Windows XP CD drive, your CD drive or DVD drive must be configured to do this. For information about how to configure your computer to start from the CD drive or DVD drive, see the documentation that is included with your computer or contact the computer manufacturer.
  2. When you are prompted to select Repair or Recover, press R. This starts the Microsoft Recovery Console.

Note You may have to enter the number to specify the Windows XP installation in the hard disk.
  3. When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the Administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
  4. Use the chkdsk command-line tool to examine the hard disks. At the command prompt, type chkdsk /r, and then press ENTER.
  5. Read the results, and then take any steps that you must take to complete the process. For example, you may be prompted to run chkdsk /f to fix certain problems.
  6. Restart the computer, and then try to run Setup again.

Computer will start beeping and then the monitor goes off and I have to shut down by front button. Sometimes have the same problem starting up. Beeps and will no turn on. This computer has been used...

The beeping sound could be caused by RAM problems or video problems or a BIOS battery.
If the computer has not been used for some time, then some components may not be making proper electrical contact with the motherboard.
Open the computer case and re-seat the RAM (memory) modules and re-seat the expansion cards that are plugged into the expansion slots. The screws need to be removed from the back-plane before the card can be removed and inserted again.
Also reseat the cables to the hard drive and other drives.
The BIOS battery may be flat and if so it needs a replacement lithium battery (the most common type in these computers is 3 volt - CR2032 coin type battery. its 20mm dia) Check before you purchase a new battery. After installing a new battery, the BIOS needs to be configured eg. the Date and Time etc.
Let me know if this fixes your computer, if not then note the error messages and give me the details.

Windows goes off with the msg 'NTLDR is missing'

NTLDR errors are usually caused by defective RAM on the motherboard. Try removing one of the RAM sticks on your board and see if computer works fine. If still gets error msg, swap the RAM stick and try again to narrow down which stick is faulty. Sometimes, its simply some corrosion on the RAM contacts which in that case, you only need to re-seat the sticks.
