As Shown Here, A Sharp-Associated Repair Person Suggested Replacing A Specific Output IC, As Well As Two Other Small Components. The Total Of The Three Replacement Parts Is $55.43. I Suggest Doing The Repair Yourself, As The Stereo Would Be No Longer In Warranty, Unless You Have No Experience With Working With Electronics. Most likely cause is the audio output IC.

My cd player is just showing PROTECT and not working??any ideas please

I would need more information such as the manufacturer and model number, I assume it's a DAF 44 but who makes that? In GENERAL
If PROTECT or PROTECTOR is flashing in the display of an audio device such as an A/V receiver, or home theater system (hts), there may be an external speaker issue or connection issue that is triggering the protection circuit

Help please

Protect display on these usually means there is a short in the amp section. Most likely the amp ic itself. Would have to get this repaired before it will turn on correctly.

Protect comes on why

Hello
Protection display will come over this type of set, when it is overloaded or system confused condition. Just unplug the device from AC mains socket and replug it after 4 to 5 minutes, and see whether it shows any protect display. If it shows it again, just disconnect the output loads, ie, connected speakers, and check. Again it displays 'protect', the internal circuit, especially the output amplifier circuits has the trouble, and the system need service. if it does not show protect display, after disconnecting the speakers from it, check the speakers or its connecting wires for damage. OK.

Protection displayed and shuts off

The protect message indicates that the output amp section has a problem. Normally this requires the replacement of the output transistors or the output amp pac. Expect the repair cost to be about $20-$60 for parts plus the local labor rate.

Display read protected and wont do anything

Usually, protect mode is enabled when the speaker output wiring has shorted together or is touching ground/+12V. I would verify that none of the speaker wiring has come loose.

My audio system says protect on display

Hi Jean,

Without a brand and a model, best that I can provide are generic possibilities:
1. unplug the unit from the mains for a couple of hours. This is supposedly to reset most systems; and/or
2. check the speaker wires and make sure none of any bare wires are touching each other.

If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, pls post back brand and model.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back as requested, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
