How to switch on wlan ?

Hi,

You can turn ON the WLAN in two ways. The most common way is by flipping the physical WLAN switch ON. The switch is usually located at the front side of the computer (look below the light indicators at the bottom of the touchpad or at the left / right / side of the computer. On some computers, they're above the keyboard.

If that won't work, you might wanna try a combination of function key (Fn+ wireless key).
For Toshiba laptops it's Fn+F8, and for Lenovo it's Fn+F5, Dell and HP usually uses Fn+F2 but every brand has a different combination so check the F1 up to F12 keys for the wireless symbol.

Cheers,

Hi, have you tried the front wlan switch? It is located at the front of your laptop and usually will resolve the problem. If it is already on, then turn your switch off and then on. Also double check the function key to make sure that it is on. If it still doesnt work, you will need to start checking other things such as drivers, and if the drivers are there, then it could be a wlan card failure. To check the drivers, click on Start>>right-click on Computer>>left-click on Manage. On the left, click on Device Manager, and under the heading of Network Adaptors, see if there is anything corresponding to your wlan adaptor. If there is nothing like this, then your card seems to have failed. Otherwise, a yellow exclamation mark indicates a driver problem. In this case of a driver problem, right click on it, and then click on uninstall. Restart your computer and see if the wlan works. Failing all of that, it would point to a wlan card failure. Hope this information helps

How do you switch on 'wireless connection'?

Hi,

The Wireless Lan Switch should be on the right hand side of your laptop near the front. After turning this on the WLAN indicator should illuminate which is located in the middle of the front side of the laptop.

regards Richard.

Notebook won't connect to network

1) Verify if Wi-Fi WLAN interface of your notebook is OK.
1a) Check whether HW switch is ON and the wireless system service is running.
1b) Switch on the WLAN Access Point (router) SSID broadcasting.
1c) Scan WLAN networks by the notebook. Can you see your home WLAN? If not, there is HW or SW problem in your wireless adapter probably. If WLAN is visible, continue by next steps.

2) Remove all WLAN security on both sides (AP and notebook): Authentication = none/open, encrytption = none.
3) Activate DHCP server in the router and set the dynamic IP assigning on WLAN notebook interface.
4) Select your home WLAN SSID in the list and try to connect.
5) Wait and check status. Is WLAN connected? Does obtain the notebook an IP address?
6) In success case set the WLAN security.

WLAN switch button does not work

Locate your wireless card compartment on your computer. It is probably on the back of it. Your computer manual should tell you where it is. Open the compartment and locate your wlan card. Remove it from your laptop for about 30 seconds, and then reinsert it and make sure that the proper connections to it are firm and secure. Close up the compartment. Turn on your laptop. Your laptop should search and recognize it. If it doesn't, then your wireless card probably quit working on you. If your computer is still under warranty, and if it doesn't recognize it after you have tried this, then you can contact your computer manufacturer and explain to them what happened. They should replace your wireless card at no charge. If you bought the wireless card from some other store, then take it to them and explain to them, and ask for a replacement wireless card.
