Question about Sharp Actius GP22W Notebook
Hi - My wife tried to open Bookworm first by clicking on the program icon which did not open so she then clicked on it again (thinking that would turn it off), then found and clicked on the Bookworn Shortcut. Apparently the game started to work for a short time and then everything went black and no amount of resetting and rebooting will get anything in the computer to operate, just the green bezel light for the Optical Drive.
I've taken it to the local computer repairer and their advice is that the motherboard is shot and would not have been caused by my wifes action, rather a power spike but I'm having trouble accepting this as it is too coincidental that it failed immediately following the sending of confusing signals to it.
Anyway I guess it is likely to be the MB and wonder if there's anyone who knows where I might lay my hand on a new or refurbished MB or someone who might be prepared to repair it??
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Well they are right, your wife's actions cannot cause your mainboard to be blown and if that is the case it is cocidental,
FOR A REPLACEMENT YOU CAN TRY LAPTOP CITY
http://www.laptopcity.com/ if they dont have any they can get one for you
BTW i wont recomend a refurbished one, as there can be issues with it as well as it wont last as long...

Hi, first of all remove any disk in the cdrom, as u say the led is on, shut down the system, and check for two things , 1) check the lethium battery, i dont think it should be bad but still, 2) if u are able to locate the RAM, remove it and clean the contacts, place it where it was, if still things dont work, check ur power adapter if the output voltage is same as specified, these are the first aids to ur system, let me know,
