Question about KLH Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Model KLH KL-2400 Reciever keeps popping fuses. Resistor in power input ckt is color coded YellowVioletYellow Gold for 470 Ohms 5% Tol. However this resistor reads 370 Ohms. Resistor needs replacement? Also there is a short between both neg. Speaker outputs. Are they sharing common? Is this normal? Please help.

First of all a resistor color coding of Yel-Vio-Yel is 470Kohms not 470ohms. You are probably reading some stray voltage in the circuit. Yes, both NEG terminals of the speakers are common. Usually a receiver that blows the main fuse has a power suplpy problem. Check the recifier diodes for shorts. Other than that, the output transistors may be shorted.

Check those out and post the results.

What Is The Value Of R2 On The Freeplay FPR2S Circuit Board?

The "Resistor Color Code is explained very well at - - http://www.digikey.com/en/resources/conversion-calculators/conversion-calculator-resistor-color-code-4-band

Your question intrieged me so I opened up my own FPR2S and took a peep. I am getting old and my eyesight is quite poor now but I believe the color bands are Orange, Orange; Yellow; Gold which converts to:3 3 0000 @ 5% or, 330,000 Ohms @ 5%

I desoldered the R and measured it - - It is 330,000 Ohms

Samsung home-theater model no# HT-E330K, power supply resistor RA805 completely burnt can't see the value of the resistor. Pls help with the value of the resistor

This may sound like a lazy answer but without a schematic, its going to be tough. Perhaps you know someone...or maybe there is someone here who has the same unit who wouldn't mind opening it up to get the value. Good luck.

I need to know the value of the Resistor "R1" in

Let us use a bit of logic to resolve this... I have an Axiom but it would be a lot of screws to take out to get to the part... so let us think about this. The resistor value starts with a "1" and we know it is 5% tolerance (gold). we know the resistor burnt up with likely 5 volts on it... Value could be 1000 ohms, however the voltages present (12 volts max) would NOT have burned up a resistor of 1000 ohms. The USB area is mostly 5 volts and across 100 ohms is only a quarter watt... not enough to really burn up a resistor... First thing is to MEASURE that the resistor s open... in spite of being burned, it MAY still be OK... these resistors now usually either open or remain close to their value. The resistor ALSO may be a fusible resistor intended to act as a fuse... Is the resistor open or not? is it near a resistance with a "1" as the first digit? If it is not open I suspect it is not all of the problem. In that case, look for a burned circuit trace on the board. If it is open, then MEASURE the voltage across the resistor with the power applied. If you find 5 volts, then it MIGHT be a 10 ohm used to limit the USB current to 500ma. Get back to me with your findings... I have unraveled many of these things...

I have two crack green resistors colors are red, brown silver gold. what value is this. Its on the power board of a 24 dell monitor

The value = 0.21 ohms 5% tolerance
Use this WEB site to work out the value of the resistor.

470.000 ohms not 470 ohms 470k ohms at 5% tol. either the main p.s. diodes are shorted or the output and driver transtors are shorted causeing the fuse to blow....

Add su bwoofer to KLH 200

the subwoofer i have, a polk, connects directly to the right and left speaker lines of the klh2400.
i then connect my stereo left and stereo right speakers to the subwoofer.
essentially, the subwoofer becomes a middle station between my speakers.
make sense?

Blowin resistor on my Acoustic Research S112PS

When I put an ohm-meter across it, I get 505-ohms. The color code looks like maybe green, dark brown, brown? Mine is discolored too. Green, brown, brown would be 510ohms. . .so that must be it. The tolerance band is gold, so that's +/-5% so that would explain the 5 ohm variance.

NEED TO KNOW THE OHMS VALUE FOR RESISTOR ON PEANUT 8685

I have the same problem, but it is open.  The color code Brown - Green - Brown - Gold.  If it is a resistor, the value must be 150 ohms +/- 5%.  To confirm the value, I open the working trimmer and remove one leg from the circuit and measure resistance.  The meter reads only 4 ohms.  Therefore, I think it is an inductor (150uH +/-5%), not resistor.
