Question about Denon AVR-1507 Receiver

1 Answer

I just received a Denon AVR-4308ci receiver. I have two passive subs in my system. The receiver only has one powered output. Since I am not using the surround back speaker outputs can I use these for the passive subs?

Sure, if you want to hear Surround Back program material coming from the subs without midrange or tweeters. (Sarcastic) Of course, the LFE program material will still be going into a black hole somewhere.

Run the subs in series with each other -
Sub Amp negative to 1st speaker negative;
1st speaker positive to 2nd speaker negative;
2nd speaker positive to amp positive.

Run the speaker level adjustments routine and enjoy.

Just for giggles, try what you were thinking about. You won't hear much from the sub(s) unless you programmed the Surround Back channel as full-range and then have something like the Apollo 13 launch for program material. Normal audio won't send much low-frequency material to those channels. The optimal place for subs is on the LFE or sub channel.

Connecting a passive subwoofer to a denon 2113

you need another reciever/amp to power that sub, because that denon reciever is designed for a powered sub,. if you have another old reciever/amp laying around, you can connect the sub out from the denon into an auxillary input of any old reciever/amp, (switched to that input) with speaker wires from old reciever/amp to the passive sub

I have a Denon AVR-587 with a sub out jack. I connected a Sony SA-W3000 and I can't get it to work? I hear very little sound coming out of it. Do I need to turn something else on??

Hi,
I assume that the sub-woofer is "POWERED TYPE" ..otherwise if it is a PASSIVE type you can not use it as sub but regular speaker.....
So,if it has a power plug for 110 VAC it is "powered type" ..Than you need to find out the AUDIO output 2xRCA plugs on the back and connect it to the 1x RCA input of Sub...you need a "Y type RCA cable " to make 2x stereo output into the 1x MONO input RCA jacks for sub..you need volume adjustment once on the sub controls (if it is a Powered )

Take care and if it succeeds please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

Hope this helps!

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

Does it think you have headphones connected? If you have headphones, check to see if they have sound output.

Hi....

A passive bass is a box with a sub-woofer in it.
An active bass is a box like that with an amplifier built in.

Hope that helps.
