Question about Intuit Quicken Deluxe 99 for Windows (quicken99)

1 Answer

Quickbooks I am living in the Dark Ages! I have Quickbooks 2.0 for windows. I have taken over a position in a club that is using Quicken5 that I can't convert to my Quickbooks because I have to do some pre conversion first. I haven't been able to find how to do that (the manual says "converting GS 63" but I have no idea where that is. I might have lost some of my documentation? Bottom line, is there any way I can get the files from Quicken5 into my Quickbooks 2.0? I am willing to get a newer version of Quickbooks but not if I can't get these files into it. Thanks.

Re: Quickbooks

That version of QuickBooks is much too old to handle a Quicken 5 file. You will need a later version of QuickBooks.

Printer driver does not have full font support

1) Are you able to use the printer outside of QuickBooks?

2) Have you checked to make sure QuickBooks is set to use the same printer as your "windows default" printer?

a) In QB, go to "File" then "Printer Setup"
b) Then select "Checks" and review the printer selected, confirm that the default printer in quickbooks, matches the "windows" default printer

3) Are you using a different printer (other than the windows default printer)? such as a special printer with MICR ink?

Then you may need to reinstall the printer.

Emailing of invoice did not go through. Says internal error. Any fix?...Thanks.

ok - hmmm, not much to go on - huh?

when you email an invoice in quickbooks:
a) quickbooks is dependant on having the proper PDF printer drivers (for converting the document from qb format to pdf)
b) is dependant on having the proper outlook drivers (if trying to use "outlook" option for email delivery
c) is dependant on having the proper internet explorer drivers (if your trying to use Intuit Email Services)

at the moment, alot of users are reporting problems with windows 7 and compatibility of PDF converter. Could that be your case?

a) If you are using Windows 7 and trying to use PDF - you will find this forum useful:
there are three solutions posted:
1. the first solution (has 9 steps) - many users claim works (but the error is not the same as yours)
2. the second solution (has 13 steps) - will work on your error specifically (I know this, because yesturday, I had a client get the same error your getting - AFTER we followed the 9-step instructions.)
3. the third solution, is similiar to intuit's solution, which did not work for us.

If you are a windows 7 users, I would suggest that you try the "13 step" version first.

If you are not using windows 7 or are not using PDF converter, please tell me more about your quickbooks email preferences? are you trying to use Intuit Email Services? or Outlook?

I have XP and QuickBooks Pro 2007. QuickBooks PDF Converter shows up with my printers, but when I am in QuickBooks, and click on print, it is not an option. I have removed and re-installed the converter...

You want to print things while in QuickBooks right? That's your problem? If so, then open your QuickBooks file and go to "file" at the top left of the screen. Click on File and then choose "set up printer" from the drop down list of choices. This will open up a list of forms. Choose the form that you wish to be able to print. Then lick on the arrow next to the printers name that comes up as the default chosen in QuickBooks. Change the printer name to the printer that you want to use to print the form. Then choose "ok" and close the window. Repeat the same instructions for each form that you wish to print with your printer. You dont want to use the QuickBooks PDF converter as the choice of printer. It's not a printer driver.

Quickbooks Pro 2007- Not Responding

It's likely a problem with the PDF Converter provided by Intuit. Here are the instructions to fix the problem:

If that does not fix your problem, take a look at turning User Account Controls either ON or OFF -
  1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off. Click Continue if asked for permission to continue.
  3. Select the checkbox Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer and click OK. Close Control Panel.
  4. Restart your computer

Please let me know if this has been helpful or if there is anything else I can do. Thank you.

It is common for extremely old versions of QuickBooks to not convert to new versions.

In this particular case, as with others, it may be necessary for Intuit to do the conversion, as the file may have to be taken through several older versions in graduated steps. There is also the possibility that the backup contains damage, and therefor cannot be converted up.
Intuit can provide guidance on entering opening balances in a new file.
