Question about Radio Shack Cinego D-1000 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Wax melted into air intake vent...thanks mom....HELP!

I let my mother borrow my Cine-go and she put it on a shelf next to a wax candle. I mean really, right next to it. So close that it melted the candle onto the side vent. She had it for while, I'd say about a month or so, so there was A TON of wax melted on and in the air vent. I scraped all the wax off and blew out the rest with an air can. I think there might be wax in where the chip is but I can't get to it. The guy at radio shack said that it may have gotten sucked in there. How would I go about removing it?

Remove the top case and take it apart piece by piece. just get the wax off of major components. it's not a conductor, but it does keep in the heat. just make sure it does not get into the optics or any of the motors (fans or colorwheel). if it get into the lamp, it's as good as gone. if it's on the main board, scrape it off with a toothpick. don't use metal. for the power supply, same thing. if it's on the colorwheel, replace it. you can't clean it off well enough for it to work properly again. if it gets into the fan motor, replace the fan. good luck.

Candle wax usually melts around 130F, water boils at 212F. Heat the water to 150 or so and the wax will melt, since its lighter than water it floats to the surface, and away from your garment. Let cool, remove wax. Try to make sure the garment stay at the bottom, small weight etc. If the water temp of you hot water is set at 140 you may get away with just letting it sit in that for a while.

Remove wax on fabric

place one layer of greaseproof paper on the ironing board, several layers of absorbent paper such as disposable kitchen towel or tissue, then the fabric centring the wax then more absorbent layers and a layer of greaseproof paper - that protects the ironing board and the sole of the iron. Use dry heat, and press gently, gradually increasing the temperature of the iron until the wax melts and moves into the absorbent layers. Change the absorbent layers several times until there is no trace of the wax left in the fabric.

When candles start to melt, can you use the liquid as a moisturizer?

No! you should not use the candle as a moisturizer when it melts unless it's a soy wax candle. Most candles are made from paraffin and it's really not meant for the skin.

How to get candle wax out of kids hair

You either have to harden it up with ice and then break it off (best method if it is toward the ends) or heat it up with a hair dryer, putting hair between paper towels so it will absorb the wax when the dryer melts it. Good luck!
