Question about Cameras

1 Answer

'99 Durango 5.2. Started a turn of the key would bring a single click - classic dead battery thing. Try again, then again, then again - sometimes would start. Occasionally messing with the cables (which seemed corroded) would make a difference. Cleaned terminals once, was great for 2 weeks. Cleaned again, good for a month. Now? Turn key, and a single click. Jumping makes no difference at all. I'm guessing a starter or starter solenoid (if that's still a separate thing these days), but also wondering if it's just a battery gone bad that's not allowing proper flow through (though all hood and cabin lights seem very bright).

How to clean battery terminal/cable

Could be a single battery cell that is failing that sometimes causes strange things to happen.

Well maintained battery terminals don't normally need cleaning.

When a battery begins to age or there is an overcharging fault the terminals could begin to corrode. Trickling boiling water over the corrosion will help disperse it before drying off and finishing off with manual methods as required.
Paying attention to safety (a battery can explode if the precautions aren't followed) disconnect the battery and using abrasive paper, scraping tools or wire brushes remove remaining corrosion and oxide deposits to leave shiny metal. Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to all the surfaces and components and then refit the terminals.

Car won't start, have power to the lights. Had battery checked and is good. Turn key five or more times no clicking then it will start.

You may have a possible dead spot in the starter. Is it a manual or automatic transmission>??

If manual, did you try to push the vehicle a little bit to rotate the flywheel a bit?

Other things: Poor ground either at the starter or frame - check battery ground to chassis as well.

Other: again perhaps a bad starter

I see on here where u have answered questions about ppl trying to start their durango and just get a clocking noise. Ok so here car for a while because my battery was almost dead and then dies...

If you have a new battery and it keeps going dead, then either you have a bad battery or the alternator is not charging properly. Altenator not charging could be either a bad alternator, loose belt, or bad wiring coming from alternator.

Does not start. Acts like battery is dead but battery is strong. As the engine slowly turns over the tach will bounce all over. When the engine acts like the battery is dead and will not turn over the tach...

IT could be either. Remove the Starter and take it to Auto Zone or another parts store that offers free testing and have it tested. Most likely the oil leak in that area is fouling things for you. It should be sealed against that type of problem but may need to be rebuilt or replaced.

I have a 99 Durango 4x4, had issues with it not starting that I believed was the after market alarm so i disabled it. Starting working fine and now its doing problem again. Will just give a loud click from...

I had the same problem with my 1999 4x4 durago. I replaced the positive wire from the battery to the fuse box next the battery. Should only be about 2 feet long if that. I have had a problem in 4 years after changing that.

Chyrsler grand voyager wont start just clicks HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you mean by bump started? The lights and radio can work, but the battery may be too weak to crank the engine over. The best thing to do would be to drive it to a parts store, where most offer free check of battery and charging system (if you can drive it. If not, 1st remove battery and bring in for testing). The click you hear is classic low battery symptom, although it can be other things. So, 1st get the free test, and post results back here. How old is the battery? (and answer 2 questions!) Thanks

battery is low on voltage as far as the locks clicking, you could also have a starter issue, try charging the battery first

Guages when crazy. Now won't even try to start.

You likely have it repaired by now but it sounds like a classic case of oxidized battery or cable connection (sometimes mis-diagnosed as bad battery but cured with new (clean) battery)

99 hyundai accent starts sometimes. not battery

ok when the check engine light comes on that usually indicates a engine malfunction...what you can do is go to your local autozone and they can do an OBDII test for bet says it is the cam or crank sensor.. DO NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF AT AUTOZONE..LOL
