Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

My Kenmore Series 80 washer is not spinning all the water out of the clothes. Then it started leaking water out the bottom. A repairman came today and said it needs a new transmission. Is it worth repairing?

Not if that's whats wrong with it. $160.00 for the transmission plus labor of 2 or 3 hours. Most likely around $50.00 per hour. I'm not saying that it's not the trans but it's not that common for them to go out. They are the best trans on the market as far as what I think.
What your describing sound to me like it could be a bad water pump. They get to where they don't pump real good and then they leak. But it just might be a trans. I would check the water pump, it's just under the front. You can see it if you tilt the machine back. It's white and has either 2 or 3 black hoses coming out of it. After running it through a cycle, see if it shows signs of leaking or if it's wet. If the trans was bad it would be making a noise or it just would not spin. I would get another opinion before I scraped it. Good luck

That is going to be a rather costly repair. I would opt to replace the machine.

It's normal to hear some water in tub, it isn't normal for the rubber wheel to be hard to turn, you need to replace the pump, they are much cheaper on ebay

Kenmore 80 series spins but won't ring out clothes

Check for buildup of detergent/foaming while washing. Check for oil leaks around the clutch area. Could also be the clutch lining is worn out. Replacement parts kit includes all parts

Kenmore washer series 80, Clothes still soapy

If you are getting no water spray during the rinse cycle that would cause the soapy clothes issue.

Are you getting cold water during the wash/rinse cycles? If you have the machine set to warm/warm you may only be getting hot water while the final spin is calling for cold.

If you have cold water available then the timer is not calling for the water spray. The problem is either in the mixing valve or the timer.

Kenmore washer 80 series 110 model not spinning.

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.
