Test the transformer with a volt meter, should get +5 volts on the center of the plug. If not, purchase a 5 volt 2.8 amp. transformer that will plug into the router. A good tech could splice the plugs if you can't find a transformer that will plug into the router.
If the transformer is good, then the router is bad. Ebay or purchase a newer model.

If the tablets work and the television not, there's no need to reboot the router.

I'd suggest something more fundamental is wrong. Do check out the possibility that the television may have been damaged by the power outages.

I have a Linksys wrt54g ver.6 wireless broadband router. This week we had a power outage. Since that event my router will not work. How do I find out if this can be fixed or if I need to purchase a new...

suxess

In regards to the problem to your Linksys wrt54g note working properly sometime when there is a power outage you get a power spike that wipes out the setting on the unit and all you have to do is reset all the setting like it was a new unit. I have one of the first generation Linksys wrt54g units and had to do this time to time.

If you still have trouble let know that you are having trouble with and I can tell you if you are going to need to replace the unit or not.

My broadbank link flashing red

Hi

Flashing red light means system restarted due to power outage and or system was restarted, Wait for system to boot. The power adapter may not be connected firmly in the power socket or the wire connected at the back of your router may be loose.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

After power outage I Can't connect without bypassing router

If you can connect directly then, the problem is the wrt54g router. Possible problems:
1) Power Outage damaged the router
2) Power Outage reseted the router

For the second scenario, you should got to the browser and type: http://192.168.1.1/ and check whether you can enter or not. If not, you need to configure the gateway IP on your PC to 192.168.1.1

Restart problem

You may have to hard reset it by unplugging the cord itself and plugging it back in. When power comes back during power shortage, there may be a power surge rushing to the modem/router causing it to behave abnormally. Also, you may want to put power surge protection on it as it may damage you modem/router as i did mine.

DI-524 Intermittent Loss of Wireless Capability after Power Outage

Try upgrading the firmware through the Routers Web Interface , and see if this will fix the problem otherwise the only other way around it is to do what you are currently doing and unplug and plug it back in, perhaps the AP was damaged as a result of a power surge , if the problem persists best bet is to buy a new one.

Goodluck!

Need help

TekFred is right - more information is needed to address the issue in detail.

A rule of thumb that generally works when using a router to share multiple computers: if it stops working due to power outages or something simple like that, unplug both the modem (the box going out to the Internet) and the router. Wait one minute. Power up your modem again and wait another minute. Then plug in the router. If that doesn't work, we can keep moving on other ideas.

If you happen to have a modem/router as a single unit, obviously this won't fix the issue.
