Hello,
It may be of a type incompatible with the camera card reader. It is also possible that the card has a higher capacity than the camera microcode (firmware) is able to access. Check the manufacturer website to see if a recent firmware has enabled access to bigger capacity cards.
There is also the possibility of wrong format. Most cards are FAT or FAT32 to make them accessible by most computers, but you can never know.

Hope it helps

Sorry, I was trying to enlighten you as to what may be the reason why you could not use the card, but apparently you wanted to know if it is formatted and if you should by a new card.
    Here are your answers.

    1. Every card you buy is already formatted in FAT file system.

    2. By all means, buy as many card as you want.

    3. One day they will come in handy.

Insert sd card again

At this time we recommend you use a different SD card and format it. SD cards can become corrupted and the camera may not recognize your card any longer.

Is the memory card the same thing as a scandisc card, the thing that holds your pictures on it. If not where is a memory card located on camera. Sounds like I have to buy new camera

Yes, memory card is sort of a generic term due to the amount of different cards used in today's digital cameras. It appears that the manufactures are changing the card type and size to fit their smaller cameras. If the camera is working properly the only reason to buy another camera is to upgrade to bigger, faster and more functions. Your memory card should be available if you want another. Remember to format (initialize) the new card AND the old or original card you should be formatting not just deleting the images. Happy Holidays from Robert in Canada

Choose YES for the Format option. Allow it to finish. Should work fine then.
Possible defective card if does not work after full format. Do not use any "quick format" option.
First time must be FULL format.

I place the card in the camera, close the door and turn the camera on. The message "card locked" appears on the screen and I cannot use the camera at all. How do I unlock the card?

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

Why My kodak dc280 can not read the memory card?

Try formatting your camera memory card If you own camera memory cards that have been used in other digital cameras, the card may not be properly formatted for use in your camera, or that data on the card may become corrupted. When these issues arise, your camera indicates that the camera memory card needs to be formatted.
When you format a camera memory card, all of the information on the card is erased. This includes any borders supplied on the card.

Can't get started

Could it be that the SD card is not fast enough? I think that SD 40x or SDHC class 6 is needed from my experience (I am not sure what it says in the manual). What speed/class is the card you are using? I get these sort of problems intermittently on my HD2 (the predcessor to the HD1000) when I use a slower card.

Card will not format

memory card? and SD card? whatever the card hook your camera to a usb to computer and find it under "my computer"

look at all your drives you should have like c, d , e, f, g, h, select the last drive and see if it finds your card if so try formatting it through the computer, whatever you do dont select c or d to format. if problem persists buy a new SD. I find good deals on ebay or Walmart.
