Check the black cartridge and make sure the orange or yellow tape at the rear end is not still attached. If it covers the small hole on the top of the cartridge, the printer won't print black text.
please have at least 2 set of black ink cartridge to determine the problem where in print head area or ink cartridge itself. if two black ink cartridge inserted and still same problem you can now focus problem with the print head. change as possible.

Basically, you placed a black ink cartridge [30] into the compartment for the color one [31]?
Make sure you have a black ink cartridge in the left compartment, and a color one in the right one. I don't even think it would properly fit if they were in the wrong slots. They should "click" into place, confirming that they're installed properly.
