SOURCE: I cant get my printer to print

Step one:Clear any paper or carriage path obstructions
Right-click the link below to open a new browser window with specific instructions about how to clear paper jams. When you have completed the instructions for removing a paper jam, return to this point in these instructions to continue resolving a carriage stall. Click here for information on resolving paper jams.
Moving the carriage
With the all-in-one turned on, open the print cartridge access door. The print carriage might try to come to move into the access area. Allow it to move to that position if it does.
Without turning off the all-in-one, disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the parts to be moved by hand and to reset the paper feed mechanism.
Looking in through either the print cartridge access door or the output paper tray, verify that the print cartridges are locked into the carriage and have not come loose. Also verify that there are no obstructions under or around the carriage to block it from moving.
Verify that the print carriage can move freely across the width of the all-in-one by gently pushing the carriage to the left and then to the right. Clear any obstructions found.
You may have to reach through the output paper tray to access the print carriage.
Close the print cartridge access door and reconnect the power cord.
Press the On button to turn on the all-in-one.
Print the self test from the menu to check the functionality of the product by following these steps:
*Press Setup , press 2 , and then press 6 in sequence. (The printer should be in ready mode.)
If the self test printed in the step above, then try to print from the computer to see if the issue is resolved.
* If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.
* If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.
Step two: Plug the product directly into a wall outlet
Verify that the product is properly connected to a suitable power source by following the instructions below.
Verify that the computer and the all-in-one product have a three-prong power plug.
Remove the product cable from any power strips or surge suppressors, and plug it directly into a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.
NOTE:If the product prints when plugged directly into a wall outlet while disconnected from any power strips or surge suppressors, the power strip or surge suppressor may not be allowing sufficient voltage to reach the product.
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.
Step three: Ensure that the control panel faceplate is installed correctly
If the control panel faceplate, or bezel, is incorrectly installed, the product may indicate a false carriage stall or carriage jam error condition. If the product has not been set up before, make sure the control panel faceplate is installed correctly by following the instructions below.
If the control panel faceplate is already installed, and your printer has been working for some time, do not attempt to re-install the faceplate. Press firmly on the faceplate to ensure proper installation of the faceplate adhesive or pins.
NOTE:If the control panel faceplate is already installed, proceed to the next step.
Attach the front panel covers.
Align the faceplate over the buttons on the top of the HP All-in-One.
Figure 1: Aligning the faceplate
Snap the faceplate firmly into place.
Figure 2: Attaching the control panel faceplate
Make sure all the buttons can move freely.
Print the self test from the menu to check the functionality of the product by following these steps:
Press Setup , press 2 , and then press 6 in sequence. (The printer should be in ready mode.)
If the self test printed in the step above, then try to print from the computer to see if the issue is resolved.
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.
Step four: Perform a partial reset
A partial reset will return user settings to factory defaults. On some models, language and country/region settings are also reset. Perform a partial reset of the product by following the instructions below.
With the unit turned on, unplug the power cord from the unit.
NOTE:Do not do a partial reset when the printer is turned off.
Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord.
When Part.NVM Reset displays, release both buttons. The unit gets reset and comes online.
Step five: Remove and re-install the print cartridges
Improper placement or installation of the product's print cartridges can cause the product to indicate a carriage stall error condition. Ensure that the cartridges are installed correctly by following the instructions below.
Turn on the HP Officejet, and open the print-carriage access door. The print carriage will move into the access area.
Figure 3: Opening the print carriage access door
After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot.
Figure 4: Removing the print cartridge
1 - Print cartridge slot for the tri-color print cartridge
2 - Print cartridge slot for the black and photo print cartridges
NOTE:It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.
Slide the new print cartridge forward into the empty slot. Then gently push on the upper part of the print cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket.
If you are installing the tri-color print cartridge, slide it into the left slot.
If you are installing a black or photo print cartridge, slide it into the right slot.
Close the print cartridge access door.
Step six: Service the printer :- If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

SOURCE: Can't scan- Refer to device documentation to

Try using widows paint. Look in windows accessories off the start program menu. If you open windows paint, look for open file from "Scanner or Camera". Most likely you can get the scanner to work again in Vista. Otherwise...try Vuescan scanner software. I think you can get a free trial period online and it should also work. You'll have to pay for that if you like it.
