I have a mac mini osx10.4 with a 512N syncmaster samsung monitor. The monitor worked fine for 2 years and up till the last month while I am on the computer the monitor will go black with a message saying "video function not supported" Optimum 1268X780 60mhz. I can unplugged and reboot monitor works again and I reset the monitor to what I was told and it still will go blank after I am on the computer from any where from 5 minutes to 1 hr. I never know when it is going to go out. Any help would be appreciated. I have changed all my cables and have added a new dvi-vga adapter and that doesnt even help. Thank you Toni

Samabbott, Toni, The very first thing to check is Samsung warranty.. If not valid you will need to check and see if Samsung has a cash+old unit swapout program for refurbished same model??? Will this 512N do same thing if connected to different pc? If so, then I would suspect the unit's power supply. Whenever strange or weird stuff starts to randomly take place with an LCD display, I would first check the "switch-mode-power-supply"! Have you tested the pc with different Known Good lcd unit? Try the above stuff and report back with a new comment. 12fixlouie

Samsung Syncmaster 710N PROBLEM !!!

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder jopints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

How do I get sound from my new Samsung monitor. Everything works fine.

Here is the user manual: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-215TW-Monitors-manual/id/278ag702/t/2/

Just get an audio cable with mini stereo phone plugs at both ends, attach one end to the PC audio line out jack (Green), the other end just goes to monitor audio line in jack (green).

No Display on my Samsung 204B monitor

If you know how to open it up and get to the power supply you will find three capacitors 2-820uf and 1-330 @ 25vdc 105o.they will have puffed up tops replace them. FYI the monitor has a 3 year warranty.

Flickeing like a dying fluorescent light bulb

Actually this is a 'warning' signal from your lcd monitor. The problem is your lcd ccfl lamp are near to their life, need to change. The ccfl lamp like our home fluorescent lamp, when the lamp need to dead, the lamp will flickering first, after some time, will totally off(dead). So, this is a signal for you. Some lcd monitor, when their inverter board are using fairchild inverter ic(oz series), will easily shutdown your monitor when they detected some flickering on your screen (ccfl lamp). If you need more information on repair your lcd monitor please visit http://www.fastrepairguide.com . Thanks.

Samsung monitor randomly flashes black

> brand-new out-of-the-box

Presumably, it has a "warranty".

So, take it back to where you bought it, and demonstrate the problem to them, and make them repair/replace it, under warranty.
