Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer

I need to change the plug in my dryer and i dont know how to attach my new 4 wire plug. my last plug was a 3 wire plug. i have a new kenmore dryer and my old house allowed me to use a 3 wire but my new house calls for a 4 wire plug. i dont know where to put my gound wire..... my dryer has a gound but the wire does not reach the gound scrw.

You'll have to lengthen the wire. You should be able to lengthen it by cutting the terminal off the end of the wire and stripping it. Then attach a piece of wire to it with a wire nut. If you use solid wire you shouldn't need a terminal -- just bend it into a circle.

NO, You will need to get an electrician to install a NEMA 14-30R outlet for your dryer, the electrician will know what you need, in anycase a 240V 30amp outlet is needed if you dont already have one. DONT replace the plug.

Kenmore Dryer model 86683100. I need to change


Yeah, red and black go to the outside terminals, white in the center and green goes to the cabinet. What I do is hook up the red, white and black, then I place the green between the terminal block cover and the frame and screw it in tight.

if you have the new plug the wiring is the same just without the green wire....just leave it off
