Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Frigidaire FRS26R4CW1, buzzes. When I noticed that the freezer was warm the unit was unplugged. The refrigerator was left unplugged for about 20 hours. When it was plugged back in it was ran, was quiet and the freezer temperature quickly dropped to 0 degrees F. It ran for about 4 1/2 hours and then the buzzing started again and the temperature began to rise. After being unplugged for about 10 minutes, it was plugged in and again ran fine. Is it possible that the start capacitor or PTC starter is bad and causing the buzzing when the compressor tries to cycle on?

Yes, what you are asking is possible. It is also possible that the compressor motor has a flat spot or is even siezing up when hot. If you are comfortable changing the cap. then I would do that first a see what happens. Changing the compressor will be much more costly and maybe more than you want to put into you refrigerator.

Contact a tech professional to diagnose the unit. You could have a floating restriction in the coolant lines and cannot easily be found on your own.

Hi
You have condesation built up in your freezer whereby the evaporator fan or the vents are most likely blocked off.

Turn fridge off. Empty freezer and either put a pot of boiling water inside freezer or with the aid of a hair dryer try to defrost the freezer. If you are able to remove the back panel on the freezer that would be ideal as you can directly target the frost.
Good luck
