Question about Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U Plasma TV

1 Answer

My Panasonic won't switch to any hdmi inputs. It just keeps them grayed out, regardless of which I use (1,2, or 3) or what is connected (laptop or PS3) Any help out there?

Changing the label doesn't do anything at all, it just shows the text label for the input that still does not work.

How can I connect my PC to Panasonic viera tc-p50x1

OK, I have no idea if you want to connect a laptop or a desktop, but either way, I'll try to make as simple as possible.

I believe your tv model is not a smart tv. I own one. To connect any external device to the tv, you must set up the external device, not the tv. In this case is a PC, your PC must be equip with an HDMI output, just like a BluRay or mobile device. If it's a laptop, you need to find out which hotkey combination to use to enable the mirroring of your laptop. You can find that out by reading the owner's manual or visiting your laptop's manufacturer website.
If it's a desktop, all you need is an HDMI video or graphic card.
Then just connect the HDMI cable to any of the HDMI input in the TV. Now, with the RC, press source or input to the connected HDMI slot from the TV, in this case there are 3 of them, you must choose HDMI 1, 2 or 3.

I have Panasonic th42 plasma.i m playing xbox360 for a year on hdmi port 1 .but 1 day when I turn on my TV than my Xbox the screen is showing black than change the port to 2 than port to 3 same problem not...

It sounds like you did some good testing by taking your xbox to a friend's home and trying it with his TV and HDMI input. You can try a reset on your Panasonic TV and see if that restores the HDMI input functions. Note this will erase your programmed TV channels so you'd need to re-enter those.

  1. Unplug the TV for at least 15 minutes
  2. Plug it back in and you'll be prompted to go through the initial setup just like when the TV was new.
If after that you still have no HDMI function on any of the inputs, that would indicate the set needs some service by a technician.

Good luck.

I cannot access 2 of the3 hdmi inputs with the remote

I have encountered this before also. If you look around in the various settings menus there should be a place to enable/disable the various inputs. I cannot give you the exact location of the setting as it varies by tv make and model but regardless should not be too hard to find with a bit of searching.

Hdmi 1 not working panasonic 50 plazma

need the model number to assist but it sounds like a main board issue if you have one of the panasonic plasma models that have the inputs all on the main board. You can get main boards for most models at www.tvrepairworld.com

Dead hdmi input

you are lucky both hdmi inputs aren't blown. The inputs are not repairable individually. You must take it to an authorized service center. They will probably need to replace the input board.

Sony Viao HDMI to Panasonic Plasma TV HDMI Input handshake

Try all of your HDMI inputs, one may be rated at the correct voltage to be able to display the video. The offical part that Panasonic was giving for this was PDPHDMIKIT, its basically a HDMI extender that regulates the voltage. The part is still available online, try partstore.com or andrews-electronics.

What Blu Ray to buy for ONKYO TX-NR801 for Dolby TrueHD, etc???

Hi, as the Onkyo receiver you have does not have HDMI switching, the only thing it will do for you with a Blu-Ray player is process the audio signals.  The video from the BR player will have to go directly to an HDMI input of your hi def TV.  In this case, either Sony or Panasonic BR player will be equal.  Assuming you keep the Onkyo unit you have, you would want to use the optical digital output from the BR player as the audio source into one of the optical, digital audio inputs on the Onkyo.  In an ideal world, your receiver would some that does do HDMI switching.  This way, all the audio and video signals from any audio or video source would be automatically switched and channeled through 1 simple HDMI cable into your hi def TV.  This will make you life simpler as ther would be no need to select an appropriate input on the TV, as well as one on the receiver.  That said, buying a new receiver in addition to a BR player is more costly.  Good luck.  Let us know how it goes.

**L@@K** How To Connect Laptop To Projector To Receiver!! HELP!!!

"the PT-AE900U supports a full range of input sources, including DVD and video players, PCs and game machines. An HDMI input provides compatibility with HD digital sources, while component video input terminals deliver full-quality, detailed images from high-end, progressive-scan DVD players. The PC IN terminal can be connected to a game machine or PC. Other terminals include composite and S-video, as well as a serial terminal for connecting a touch panel controller or similar device." You can go to Dell support to either read your manual, but your laptop model's manual is there for the reading. It lists all the outputs. if you have a problem figuring which to use, they will tell you. your manual can be found at http://support.dell.com/support/dsn/dsnsearchresult.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&Query=bWFudWFs&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&ServiceTag=&contenttype=-1&os=-1&component=-1&lang=-1
You may either have to connect the laptop directly to the Panasonic, or you may be able to connect it through the Harmon Kardon, but I doubt if there will be any advantage to doing that.
