Why does my ge pss26lg side by side despense water but no ice?

Just because you get water from the dispenser does not mean you should also get ice made in the ice maker. Fact is there are two side to the water control valve. One for the ice maker and the other for the water dispenser. Is there ice remaining inside the ice maker slots? If not then pour water into the tray until full and if after the water freezes it drops the ice into the ice bin this will indicate a defective=> WR57X10032 Water Inlet Valve If nothing happens and the ice maker tray are full of ice this will indicate a defective=> WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly The ice maker is cannot be rebuilt on this model. I have a maytag dual cool side by side fridge, recently the ice maker has reduced ice production and the ice cubes are not fully formed ( Almost hollow). When you use the water despenser it makes a...

Hi,
It sounds like you have a water flow problem. I would inspect the unit for ice building up in or around the freezer fan motor. If the ice is forming in side the freezer, the trouble could the a restriction in the fill tube. But this does not affect the water dispenser. The noise you hear could be the water line moving when water flows through the line, or your water valve itself could be the problem, like the valve shutters when in use.
The valve is easy to check, its located behind the unit in the back left corner. Remove the screw holding the valve in place, while dispensing water hold the valve and see if the issue is only the valve. If the valve is the issue this could cause both problems you have. Part number 67005154

Fridge will dispense water and ice but will not make ice

You question " Fridge will dispense water and ice but will not make ice" If its not making ice then how its dispensing the ice. This is bit confusing me,-------- as per your question i assume you mean to say, that its dispensing the watyer but its not making ice. ------------

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------

This will help. Thanks. Helpmech.

Water dispenser does not work. However, the ice maker does work so there is water availabe. Could this be a pump problem, if yes how do I replace.

It is not your pump, because despenser and ice maker both get water from the same pump.
Water despenser is activated by a small plunger when you press your water glass against it
to release the water. This is your problem, bad plunger.

My water will not come out of the water despenser

start by checking the solenoid that supplies the dispenser to see if it is burned out. It is usually located in the back lower part of frig where the water inlet line hooks to. There are usually 2 solenoids.... the ice maker and the dispenser. Unplug the frig before testing these. The resistance across the ice maker and dispenser are usually the same. If the dispenser solenoid is "open" on the ohm meter then the whole water supply valve needs replaced. Another problem with some units where the dispenser is on the FREEZER side...the lines behind the door will freeze.

Outside ice despenser is dripping, no ice

water dispenser -Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

ice maker - If it overfills and drips, look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.

If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.

Water despenser

The water dispensing valve may not be functioning, if the valve buzzes or hums when the water dispenser is pressed the valve may be mechanically deficient, if there is no sound whatsoever the switch for the dispenser, the dispensing valve coil or its electrical connections may have failed.

Side by side frigidaire ice maker not working

Check the water valve at the back of fridge. Are you getting water at the dispenser on the door? If so, the water valve may not be bad, but sometimes water will freeze in the tube that fills the icemaker. Pull it out from the back of the fridge and check it.Hope this helps !
