Ensure the set is upluged, then check coninuety? across centre tag and the left tag then the right tag, if this checks out OK then check the resisters close to the center tag. potentiometer are cheep enough, get a replacement from Tandy or RS spares.

Hobart beta mig 170 wire feed wont adjust

The variable speed motor runs on 0-24VAC controlled by the speed control dial. The dial may be toast. Replace this part first. You may verify the part failure by using a bypass wire to see if the motor runs at maximum speed without the control dial (rheostat or potentiometer).

Ya212 snap on wire feed low speed wont work

Open the cover and see if the feeder wheels are turning. They should, and likely are. if you increase the feeder wheel tension, this should alleviate some of that.

If it the feeder wheel is just not turning at the lower speeds but works fine and adjusts speed above the midpoint of the control, replace the potentiometer used for speed control as it may be defective- open on the carbon track.

I have a Hobart 140 Handler, My Problem is the feed wire is feeding too fast. It can not be regulated with the speed control. I believe the problem is with the pc board but not a 100 percent sure.

In order to check the wire speed control you will need to open the machine and test the wire speed control mechanism (rehostat, potentiometer) with the use a volt meter. If you see a a variation on it while moving the knob then your problem is the PC board.

Good luck and have a great day.

Check your wire speed theostat (potentiometer), that could be the reason there is no power for the motor drive.

Broken wire speed switch

You can fix it yourself, take the potentiometer (also known as reohstat) out.You will need to open the machine and take the knob off to free it out. You can take the old potentiometer to any electrical shop, or go to your nearest welding shop/store I will recommend praxair store.

My snap-on mig welder powers on fine, wire feeds normally, but I only get a little blue spark and a sizzle when I try to use it

Initial setting it's wrong, you should have a vivid spark. If it just sizzle try to increase your voltage and wire speed.

My welders wire speed control will not slow down wire feed speed, it goes full speed

how long have you had it? if it is still under warranty take it back. if not let me know and i will walk you through fixing it step by step. once you take the facing off, your warranty is invalid

Wire feeds too quickly

Some welders control wire speed with the amps control, some control amps with the wire speed control. You might try turning things up until it runs smoothly without pushing back. If you're new at welding, it does take some practice until it feels right.
