I have a power problem with my Toshiba Tecra S2. It lost power while I was playing Solitaire. All lights on the front are off. Plugging out and in again did lit the lights. But when I hit the power button the lights went off. Without the power cable, on battery, it sometime flashes. I have pulled out everything, Memory, HD, DVD, Battery out of it and still no luck. I have even checked the fan if there was dust. Who has encountered this problem and do you have a fix ?!

When a computer shuts down by itself and will not start up again straight away, until it has cooled down. Then this is an overheating problem.
This is caused by a faulty fan and/or the fan and heat-sink assembly is clogged with dust.
If the computer is not on a flat surface then the vents may not have clear for good ventilation.
Check the fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
Clean and vacuum the dust from the fan and heat-sink assembly.

My toshiba tecra 8000 will not power on

What you need to do to test this is the following:

1 - Check if its the battery : Remove the battery, plug in the laptop and try to power on the machine, if it powers on then your battery is dead and the system board is fine

2 - With the batter in and the laptop plugged in you should get a charging LED light up somewhere on the laptop, if you do not then the board is most likley gone.

If removing the battery and plugging the laptop in still fails to start the board of spin the fans and you hear no beeps, then the board is gone.

Hope this helps

Forget cmos password on a tecra s2

usually that is set by the company that makes the laptop... unhooking the cmos battery for a period of time often removes it.
