I have a Philips lcd tv, the tv won't turn on from standby. The remote doesn't change anything and when you press the button on the top of the tv the red light goes out but nothing else happens?

My experience with Philips TV leads me to believe you may have some electrolytic capacitors that have leaked or swelled on top. If you remove the cover and check the module where the power cord connects to, you may find three 1000Mfd capacitors at 35Vdc that the tops are swollen. Also possible a 2200Mfd at 16Vdc may have failed. Service to this PC board requires soldering skills. If you replace your parts yourself please observe the + - polarity in each capacitor.

Sharp LCD tv canno power up

Power Supply Board might have several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Phillips tv model 47pfl5603d/f7 power supply board need to purchase one pard number 272217100571

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.

Philips HDTV with back light will not turn on unless you plug and unplug it several times? What's wrong?

I have the a Philips Ambilight TV too. The power supply has two capacitors that may be going bad. Check the pic here...

In the Samsung power supply on the Philips TV, this part is known to fail and needs to be serviced or replaced. If you can do simple soldering work, you can replace these for less than $20 (for parts and shipping).

We have a Phillips 42" LCD and it turns itself off? it happened last year then stopped for about 11 months, the problem has now come back with avengence.

You are not the only one I can tell you that. I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.

Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
Solutions?
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.

Hope this helps

RED LIGHT BLINKS SEVEN TIMES

The most likely problem are two failed capacitors on the main board in the center of the TV The failed parts are easy to identify as the top of the cap will no longer be flat but will have bulged up. DO NOT attempt to remove the back of the TV unless you know what you are doing.
soldering on a circuit board will be required to fix this problem.

Phillips 42" LCD Mod#42PF722OA/37

This problem is related to two failures, one is the Power Supply Board, another one is the Y-Main Board. Troubleshoot procedures:

1. Disconnect the Vs Power Supply cable from the Power Supply Board,
2. Turn on the tv and check the Vs voltage on Power Supply Board,
3. If the Vs voltage is there, then the Y-Main board failed.
4. If the Vs is not there, then the Power Supply Board failed.
