Why do both incoming and outgoing calls cut off after a few minutes on base hand set?

It could just be a bad battery, swap battery's and see if the trouble follows. If so it is bad. Also on these lithium battery's you build the life to them, when it is fully charged, do not just use it for a few min. and put back on the base, if you do that's all they will last is a few min. after charged. Use it and leave off base, then get in the habit of only charging it at night and leave off base during the day. The battery should last 6-8 hours or more if not in use a lot.

My vtech phone displaying out of range or no power on base

This indicates the phone can't make contact with the base station. Please check if the base station is working, and has a phone line. (Perhaps you have a second phone that works well?)
If the base station works, remove the battery from the phone and put it back again. Eventualy replace battery, if you already noticed the battery did not last for more then just one call.

I get Warning! use rechargeable batteries only. But they r rechareable, and changing them doesn't help

Reboot the base :
-Make sure the handset is HF and not on the base.
-Disconnect the base from the power supply and remove the batteries (only the base's, don't remove the handset:s batteries), soon, after a few seconds at most, the handset not finding the base when scanning for it, should go off by itself.
-Wait a moment (60 sec should be plenty) then reverse the last step (batteries+power-supply).
When reboot is completed (watch for the normal screen on the LED display) just put the handset back on the base again, 'voila' !

Fell in longer works

First of all it is possible to buy another phone if you go to

As much as the one that fell in the sink, remove the battery cover and battery, dry inside the phone and battery. Then place all parts in a warm room (NOT on a radiator) and leave for 24 hrs. Then reconnect and see if it works. My fingers are crossed for you.!

Our Panasonic system shows "No link to base walk closer" for any of the handsets even when 2 inches from the base. Seems the base has stopped communicating.

Often times when this happens try putting the phone back in the base unplug from the wall for about 30 seconds plug back in wait about a minute then try again. I have seen where you may need to also try unplugging the battery from the phone for a minute put it back in and place in the base. Its a communication problem with the phone to base connections and resetting the power often clears this up.
Hope this helps!

I contacted GE today and they told me how to get the caller ID to work on the additional handsets. You must follow these steps in the exact order given.

#1 - unplug the base phone
#2 - unplug the telephone line from the base phone
#3 - remove the battery packs from the phones
#4 - wait 10 minutes.

reverse the order when assembling. Put battery packs in phones, put the telephone line back in the base phone and lastly plug all phones back in. It takes about another 10 minutes after that before all phones start recognizing caller ID but it now works fine.

Handset does not work

Your handset is no longer communicating with your base. Depending on your model, the solutions can be a couple of different options. If I could view pdf files on this computer I would look it up for you. But here is the link to the manual on Unidens website-

Nonetheless, give this a try. Power down your base, and pull the battery out of your handset. Plug the battery back in the handset and set the bad handset in the base cradle, and then power up the base. Wait about 30 seconds, then give the phone a try. If it still does not work, then you need to try to "re-register" the bad handset back to the base. Look in the manual under "registration" procedures. Hope my help fixes it for you. Good Luck, CG

Lost comunication

I solved this problem with a RESET of the handset. Instructions from the Philips website: Please perform a reset of your device. You will not loose your recorded data (phonebook and personal settings are being kept). 1. Unplug the mains of the base station. 2. Remove one of the batteries of each handset. 3. Put the batteries back in and re-plug the mains of the base station.
