I just repaired my Sony with this problem by adding shims under the LED driver board. This board sits over top of the T-CON board and spans the length of the screen. Several conductive pads on the board make a connection between this circuit and the metal frame that runs across the top of it. By adding a slight pressure under the circuit board where the pad resides, it created a better connection and resolved the problem.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems either the T-con board in your unit has gone bad and/or it is not getting the required 12vdc from the power supply unit. If you have knowledge of internal circuitry of the unit then you can open the back of the unit and check the T-con board which is the last board before the LCD panel. Usually it is available with the LCD Panel. Unfortunately replacing this is only recommended to be done by someone with electrical expertise. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Have a 2 yr old 46" Sony LCD. No picture at start up.

It may just need time to warm up. Try starting it up and waiting around for the picture to show.

When we turn on our tv in the morning the left

Call Sony my friend. I have the same exact issue with the same model. They already have a recall for the 46"XBR4. Let Sony know that us 52" owners are having the same issue. I'm essentially calling them everyday until they fix it.

WE had Sony Bravia 42" LCD TV for two years working fine. Thuis morning the picture went off. What is the problem?

After checking DVD and other accesaries (functioning OK), I turned the power off for the Cable Box and restart to reset the Cable Box which resored the VIDEO function. I recommend the same procedure for those who has a Cable Box.

Very poor picture when the television is first turned on goes back to normal after 5 or ten minutes

Caused by failure of the LCD Panel. The fact that it only happens on a cold start means the inverters (part of the LCD Panel) are bad and the only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel. The Part is very expensive (usually about $2000) and time consuming to replace (need to take whole TV apart).
