Lines across the screen

What is the brand name and model number to your TV? Anyway, visit the following site. I assumes that there are fine lines across the screen all around with an inch apart, with blurred picture as background. If so, the fault is called 'retrace lines'. There is a post discussing this type of fault. Check the link, and search it for this post. Pull up older posts there.

Thin line across the screen

I'm guessing that this is a CRT based TV, not an LCD. That being said, the problem is a failure of the vertical circuit. Usually this is a small flat IC (LA7837 or similar). Try resoldering the pins if you can first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the IC. Please be aware that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present even when unplugged.

Keep us posted.

No picture Thin line across middle of screen

Hi,

Most problems indicated by your description involved the Vertical IC. With your post "tap...pop back up" signifies a loose connection or to be more specific a cold solder. I suspect that no part(s) need top be replaced but would however require re-application of heat with the use of a soldering iron.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
