I have a Kodak Easy Share DX6490. The function

I have a Kodak Easy Share DX6490. The function dial on the back turns very hard, almost like it is rusted inside. Is there a spray or some sort that I could use to free this dial up somewhat?? THANKS

If you use electrical switch cleaner it wont hurt the camera and it has a lube in it as well much like an oil but its not oil its an electrical oil,,,this will work on any switch or fuse box or volume control that crackles when moved its handy stuff to have around

My Kodak Easy Share DX6490 will not turn on. When I place it on the charging dock, the lights flash like it is transferring photos to my computer and the flashing won't stop even if I remove the camera...

Hello, sounds like you have a faulty battery,if the battery is several years old it will lose the capacity to boot the camera and the dock is trying to charge a defective battery,if you get a new battery, charge it for at least 6 hours or more.Hope this solves your problem.

I have moister inside the lense of my kodak easy share dx6490. How do I open it so that I can dry the lense

Hello Steve, There is no easy way to open the camera, your best bet is to just let it set in a warm dry area for a couple of days. This usually occurs during times of high humidity or from a rapid change in camera temperature like warm indoors to cold outdoors.

Lost photoes on old computer

Hello, Don't know what you are calling "crashed" was it do to the operating system, the power supply, or hard drive failure ? Hard drive data can be recovered even if the drive has failed. If th PC died for some other reason you can install the drive in a different PC as a slave and get your data back.

Mode dial on my Kodak DX6490 camera is hard to turn!

dissmantle the back case (watch for 1 hidden screw under rubber covers), lift plate on back of lcd screen, remove screw on back of dial, clean where it sits on both sides (most probably from a liquid spill...tea, coffee...) , apply some lube with a cottonbud ore a bit of tisue and rebuild.
hope this helps

Will not turn on or off.

I very carefully removed the cover (total of 8 screws,KEEP TRACK of where they go!!) pry off cover carefully, watching the mini usb port connector. The back where the joystick is located has a little circuit board that can be removed to expose the switch/joystick dial. There is a little steel indented piece that fits into the plastic dial edge. Carefully pull out the steel piece and see if the dial rotates. I used a bit of silicone on a q-tip for lube, carefully reassembled and have a fully functional easily rotatable dial once again. Take your time, it's worth it to save 125$!!

I have a Easy Share DX6490

Hello Tina, Try to connect the camera directly to the PC using the USB cable and see if this works, if not uninstall the Kodak software and do a full reinstall.
