Usb ethernet adaptor doesn't work

Try to load the latest driver, you can get that from HP under your computer. If that does not fix it then go buy a cheap USB Ethernet adaptor from Amazon or BestBuy, plug it in to a spare USB port and follow the directions for the adaptor with your Ethernet cable plugged into the new adaptor.

That is it, you have bypassed the bad Ethernet power and can forget about it (they can't be fixed), you should be good to go.

If you don't want to try the driver, then just get a new adaptor and that will bypass the internal adaptor.

Those USB to PS2 adaptors are hit and miss. They shouldn't need a driver. What you could do is buy a USB PCI controller, which will allow you to connect USB devices to your legacy system. Best buy sells one for $20 and it works for 98 SE - Windows 7.

Try using a USB to ETHERNET Adaptor. *********** board should have a USB port.

buy a adaptor callled "USB LAN adaptor" ....connect to ur USB port and then connect the LAN cable to that adaptor...ur USB port turns to a LAN port

The best thing you can try is a Static discharge.
Please remove all the external devices. Unplug the power adaptor.Remove the battery. There should be no electricity connected.
Then press the power button and keep your finger on it for about 30 seconds to release any build up electricity.
Plug in the adaptor and battery again and see if there is still a problem.
Maybe is a good idea to get a surge protector in the future.

they have vast set of hardware option too many for me to guess what have in total, and why not ask them for help. first.?????

some old mobo have vestigial COM1-4 ports, and must be disabled in bios.
the adaptor is also called TTL232 and does not do +12-12v IEA levels and real target device may demand RS232 levels to go as far as 100 fee. does your run that far, not told how wired, to locks
im a big time old RS232 /485 guy here and know its limits.
TTL only works short distances, say 2 ft max.
TTL is 0.4v to 4.v levels and horrible at distance.

it uses real industry standard, RS323,(or 485) signals that can go 100ft min. TTL232 will never ever work and are toy grade used for
things like toy PC called Arduino, most commonly.

yes good adaptors real are sold, and use an internal dual rail
+12vdc and -12vdc (or near) charge pump, to do EIA/TIA RS232 legal level switching, ask and I can show them but not for VISTA

You say "your Ethernet Port" (= LAN port)
If unavailable try using any USB to rj45 adapter and you can use any USP port.

You'd need to buy an adapter such as this one. It's plug and play so no software would be required. There are cheaper ones available if you search for 'usb ethernet adaptor' but I chose that one as you can buy it directly from amazon. Obviously you will need a free usb port to make this work! I think tThe adaptor I suggested will only work with windows 2000, xp and vista.

It depends on your computer and your operating system, but generally if you have USB ports with a Windows-based machine, then you can use a USB ethernet adapter. You plug the adaptor into your USB port, then the ethernet cable into the adapter.

Almost any electronics supply store ie Circuit City, Best Buy, plus Walmart and other big discount stores carry USB Ethernet Adapters. You can also try your local mom 'n' pop computer supply store.
