No there is not a reset. Take the screws out of the handle and inspect the wiring most likely the switch is bad and it is very easy to replace.

Take off the botton with a phillips head screw driver, and, while the cleaner is unplugged, check the connections on the right side of the motor as you look at the vacuum cleaner from the front. They may be loose and you may need to crimp them a bit.

Did you press the reset button? There will be a reset button either on the back of the unit just below the bulkhead or on the top side of the base.

Locate the reset button and press; this should allow the carpet attachment to resume operation.

If you require an Owner's Manual try downloading the Epic 3500 manual from this site:

I have an electrolux discovery II vacuum cleaner and the floor function works, but when I try to switch over to carpet mode, it doesn't seem to engage.

There is a red reset button on the back of the machine. When it trips, the brush won't engage. Press the reset button and then try your machine again.

These power heads have a kill switch on them. Not exactly clearly labeled.

the kill switch reset button should be on the right side of the unit as you look down like you are using it. you may want to try pushing it with the power to the power brush on. Upon resetting the button there, the power
head should start no problem.

Good luck with that.

Where is the reset button located?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

The reset buttons on the Riccar vacuum cleaners are located at the bottom of the vacuum cleaner in the back, underneath of where the wand sits on the vacuum cleaner.

Here's a picture of a Riccar 8925 which replaced your 8850 a few years ago, but the reset switch will be in the same exact location on all Riccar uprights;

Here's a closer look of the reset switch;

I hope that I was able to answer your question. You can avoid the reset switch flipping in the first place by always ensuring that you change the bags frequently and when full, as well as the motor filter that sits underneath of the bag. Also keeping the vacuum from clogging will prevent this.

If you found this repair solution helpful to you, may you please click the 4 Thumbs Up Icons in the top right hand corner to help me out here on Fixya? I really do appreciate it, thank you so much.

Vacuum working perfectly and everything stopped. Went to the utility room and found a plastic bag on top of the equipment. Tried the reset button, etc. nothing works.

sounds like a bad relay in the tank just a simple repair but should be done by a vacuum tech or electrician. Could be a motor is nothing is starting at all, but not as likely.

Rainbow Model e Series will not start. Where is the reset button on this vaccum?

There is no reset button on the canister. It may be a bad power switch, a power cord, or the button that presses in when you put the water basin in place may be bad - or the prong on the water basin that pushes that button in when you place the canister on the basin may be broken off.
