    • In May 2007 I bought a 46-inch Samsung LCD TV from BestBuy. In February of this year, 7-8 months after the 1 year warranty expired, my TV stopped working properly. I can hear sound, but no picture. I work with technology and I am an expert in home theater setup so, I checked for all possible causes, like bad cable connections, etc. No luck. I decided to research the issue on the Internet and very quickly found-out that there are hundreds of other consumers that have experienced the exact same issue with that specific set (LN-T4665F), making it clear that it is a manufacturing defect.

On February 24th I called Samsung to arrange service and I was told I would have to pay for it because the set was out-of-warranty. Considering this was clearly a manufacturing defect, I didn't think that was fair and the agent told me to call their escalated costumer service department, or ECR. I called the next morning and, after having to explain the exact same story all over again, was told by an extremely rude agent called Tutson that he wasn't going to transfer my call because "just because I saw it on the Internet it doesn't mean it is true". I continued to ask to be transfered and he continued to say no, in an extremely rude way. I hung-up the phone. To my awe, my cell-phone rings and it is this Tutson gentlemen calling me to scream to me about hanging-up on him. I couldn't believe it.

I eventually found the direct number to the ECR department and spoke with a person named Britney who told me there was nothing she could do because they have a procedure.

Here are a few links to other people saying they have the same issue:

    • I also have the same problem. My TV only just over one year old. I call samsung but no help. they are saying the panel problem, which may cost $1300 for new panel and $275 labor if your warranty expires. I decide I will never ever buy Samsung TV any more. Only one time and bye Mr. Samsung! Two of my friends also have the same problem too.

    • I have a 46 inch lcd samsung that I purchased in Sept 2006. Yesterday the screen went black but I still have perfect sound. Obviously, my one year warranty is up. I am going to try the 4hour turnoff to remedy it...hopefully that works!!! When I bought this TV I was told that it was the TOP OF THE LINE and 1080 had just come out. By the time I bought the wall mount and had it delivered I spent well over $4,000!!!!!!!!! I am SO AGGRIVATED that a $4,000 product can't even last long enough for me to pay it off!!!!!

    • Same exact problem. Turned on the TV last night - after a very quick flash of image the screen goes completely black. Called Samsung and they gave me phone numbers for two defunct service centers and little to no help. They seemed to be fully aware of the problem, too

After a quick internet search I found this issue occurs in other Samsung models as well. It's unconscionable that Samsung has not issued a recall to fix this problem or is willing to provide customer service to those who experience this issue. I, for one, will never purchase another Samsung product again.

    • I have the same problem. Purchased July 2007. Worked great until August 2008. Then intermittenty would not get picture when turned on but audio okay. Took it to local service center. After many weeks I got it back. They replaced several parts including the LCD panel. It worked fine for 1 month and then no picture again. Took it back to shop and Samsung willing to extend warranty 1 month in order to diagnose the problem. Waiting to hear what they discover. For $2500 I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a longer lasting product. Assuming they can "fix it" what happens if it fails again after another month of use?

    • I had the same problem with my Samsung LNT4665F a month ago (bought in Nov 2007). It was in warranty and hence Samsung replaced all the parts (LCD panel, mother board, power board and power cable) at no cost.

20 days into the replacement, I have the exact same problem on the replaced set.

    • Same tv same problem. Samsung extended my warranty and a tech replaced my lcd panel. Hope this one lasts longer. My tv would flash light gray for a second and not turn on. I had sound but no picture/menu.

Tech said this was his 3rd Samsung that week with the same problem!

I hope Samsung will do something to fix this problem if it happens again.

The part was $1047.00 with a $500 core. I would hate to have to pay that

      out of pocket.

    • WHEN THE TV IS TURNED ON WE HAVE A PICTURE FOR A LITTLE BIT THEN NOTHING BUT SOUND. OTHER TIMES WE CAN NOT GET A PICTURE AT ALL. THE TV WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER OF 2007, IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $130 TO HAVE IT SHIPPED TO GET FIXED. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO BE OUT MORE MONEY FOR THE TV WHEN IT IS A PROBLEM THAT IS COMMON. IS THERE A LEMON LAW FOR ELECTRONICS? WHY DON'T THEY JUST DO A RECALL ON IT?

We may neet to begin contacting the attourney general. Seriously we may all have to write letters. I am willing to organize this if others post a willingness to engage in this process. Samsug customer service told me that what people report on the internet has nothing to do with Samsung. I explained that I was not wanting to report to the internet, that I was calling to report my number to them. It took some arm twisting to get her to give me a contact on who to report the problem too. They won't listen to internet blogs and I don't blame them for that. However, I was reporting directly to Samsung and they did not want that too happen either. That is not ok. We need to get the attourney general involved. Who is with me?

Im in. No TV should only last 1-3 years !!!!!!!

This may be the backlights and or the backlights power supply is in failure, or the drive board is not working properly.

The set will have to be serviced. In some models, the backlights are not replaceable. In this case they would have to replace the screen. The service center can tell you for your particular model.

If you want to verify the backlights, in a darkened room shine a flashlight at an angle in to the screen while the set is running. Look at various angles to see if you can see an image. If you can see a proper image, this means that the backlights and or the power supply for the back lights has died.

I am in! Mine just started doing it today. got home from work turned on the LN-T4665F no picture just a hum and shut down. Not happy about this i love that tv. Products need to be tested better before sold on the market, or cheaper if their only gonna last a quarter of the life expectancy.

i am with you, I have the same problem! let me know what I can do to help your law suit.

    • I too am having the same problem with my Samsung 46" LCD Hd TV, model LNT4665FX/XAA Version SX06. It is very slow to power up and is getting worse. The screen at times will show vertical lines of color and needs to be powered down and then back on. From what I've read the problem will only get worse. The cause seems to be bad capacitors installed in the set. I'm posting a link to a video that will show you step by step how to fix this problem yourself and save you a lot of money in the process. I've not done this yet myself but I will be doing this this weekend when I can get to a Radio Shack to buy the replacement capacitors. It's funny how when you contact Samsung about this they've of course never heard of this problem and it just so happens that this issue comes about most of the time right after the 1 yr manufacturers warrenty has expired. Samsung has lost another costomer here too more because of the way they continue to deny the problem exists. If I can help in your law suit please email me.
