YOU MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE A BAD CHANNEL ON THE AMPLIFIER THAT HAS HALF-WAVE OUTPUT, CAUSING THE SERIOUS DISTORTION. USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. SWITCH THE RCA INPUTS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS IN THE SAME CHANNEL, THEN THE AMPLIFIER OR SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEM SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE PROBLEM IS THE RCA CABLE OR RADIO ITSELF. YOU CAN VERIFY YOUR FINDINGS BY STARTING WITH THE SPEAKERS FIRST. SWAP THE SPEAKERS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS ON THE SAME SPEAKER, THEN THE SPEAKER IS AT FAULT AND IS PROBABLY HAS A SHORTED VOICE-COIL. IF THE PROBLEMS SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE AMPLIFIER OR INPUTS ARE TO BLAME. BY FOLLOWING THESE TWO METHODS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHICH COMPONENTS ARE AT FAULT. REMEMBER, YOU HAVE AN INPUT, AN AMPLIFIER AND A SPEAKER. THIS PROCESS OF ELIMINATION WILL HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE WITH MANY TYPES OF PROBLEMS. LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V
PS: MAKE SURE THAT THE GAINS AND BOOST CONTROLS ARE SET TO THE SAME LEVEL FOR BOTH CHANNELS BEING TESTED. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE BALANCE CONTROL ON THE RADIO IS STILL SET TO THE MIDDLE. DON'T WANT THESE CURVEBALLS INTERFERING WITH YOUR TROUBLESHOOTING......V

How do I Bridge MTX Thunder 404 400 watts into one channel

The mtx thunder is a 4 channel amp. 4 channels can't be bridged to 1 speaker. You can only use one side of that amp to bridge your speaker. Unfortunately your now only using half your amp.

I have a mtx audio thunder 4202 amp is it just meant to use for sub woofer or can it be used for front speakers as well ? is it 2 or 4 channel and what does that men?

yes, the amp can be used fof full range speakers. to use it a s such, the amp's "crossover" switch must be set to "off" (could also be labeled as "full-range" or "defeat").

the amp is 2 channel. 4 channel is for surround sound or to have independent front and rear channels/volumes. this 2 channel amp will support 4 speakers, but you wont be able to balance from front to back- the front and back speakers will be at the same volume all the time if both are hooked up to the amp.

2 MTX Thunder Problem.. Bridging?

Is there a option on the chanels that say ''Bridged''? If so, you can hook the subs up in parellel or series to get different ohm loads. Usually the lower ohms, the more power amp puts out. Those subs can handle 225 watts RMS whitch means the power it can handle constantly. If the amp gives more than 225 watts RMs, you could be at risk of blowing the sub. If you could give me the model # of the amp, I can be of more help.

How do you run bridged into 2 ohms dynamic power

If your amp can drive a 2 ohm load then you need to configure your speakers for such a load

1 DVC 12 inch sub with 4 ohm coils wired in parallel would give you two ohm.

series impedance you add the impedance together
parallel it is this formula (Z1^-1+Z2^-1)^-1
the negative 1 exponent is just the inverse so Z1^-1 is just 1/Z1 Figure out your combination for your speaker setup.

I have a mtx thunder 81000d amp i need to know if i can bridge it

Hello frank_sadach,

"Bridging" connects 2 amp channels to one output. The MTX 81000d is a single channel amp so it cannot be bridged.

Hope this helps.

Surround sound distortion

Receivers like this will incorrectly decode rear channel audio and pass it on to the rear channels as distorted audio. Make sure the source being used really has rear channel information encoded into it. It could have other issues but check this first.

sounds like an internal problem. first disconnect all spks from amp, then switch on head unit and check if amp turns on (LED ON?) then feel the heatsink, if heatsink gets terribly hot then amp has internal fault. if amp doesnt get hot then try connecting a single working speaker to each channel separately, it may occur that one channel is faulty only. amps can shut down if the speaker/s is faulty as well, check all speakers and spk wires for shorts before taking amp in for repair. cheers
