Maytag Performa...It fills up and will not spin.

I have a Maytag Performa model: #PAV3200AWW. For some reason it fills up with water and then won'f go any further. It will not spin..rinse...drain water or anything? I can hear the timer in it moving from one cycle to the next and the dial moves through the cycles and turns itself off. What is the matter with my washer.

I have a sneaky suspicion that its jealous of the new dryer I just bought Sat before last and its boycotting me. Please help me.

Same washer, same problem....seems to be off balance.

    Yep,
My machine had the same problem.
I found the drive belt had snapped and it was just lying on the floor underneath while the machine's timer would go through the motions.

Could also be the motor start capacitor - I've had it arcing at the base of the terminals where it enters the body of the cap. Genlty wiggle the leads and if one falls off, you've found the fault

There are to devices that can cause this. The lid switch and the water level control valve.

Top load maytag performa washer won`t stop flling both on wash and rinse cycles.

The switch the tube connects to shuts the water off. Will it cut off on high medium or low level. You can try blowing on the tube to see if it works. It should cut off when you blow.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(try this!)
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my guidance notes for checking both the drain filter and the drain motor ;-0)
-------------------------------------

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play!

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!

Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

Maytag Performa model mtw5740tq0: won't fill up with water

There is an exit hose behind your washer, it has to be maintained a particular height (approx 30inches from ground) before it goes into the standpipe in the wall. The gap in the pipe should not be a tight fit. Another thing that could have occurred is that one of the pipes underneath the washer has come loose; you just have to check these things out. But plug off the mains socket first!

Maytag Performa washer Waterlevel/agitator problem

CHECK your stand pipe hasn't fell over (the one the drain hose goes to when emptying)If not,Either the pressure switch is broke or there is a hole or split in the pressure switch rubber hose. This switch stops the water when it reaches required level.
