Re: Feeds two sheets on top of each other through feeder...

Before I taped the sensor, it wouldn't retract to allow the paper through and the rollers would grab a sheet and try to pull it through jamming the sheet in the ADF since the sensor blocked the paper path. Took it in to the local Canon repair shop on Saturday for a technician to look at it.

Re: Feeds two sheets on top of each other through feeder...

The problem is not the sensor, itis the rollers that feed and seperate the paper.
the sensor only tells it there is paper, in the machine. then there is a tire that feeds the paper and another that stops the others from feeding at the same time. If the tire ( on some models it's a pad that looks like it has a rubber or a cork.) is old it looses it's grip and let's the paper slip by. Try cleaning with alcohol, must be replaced eventually.

Black line 1 inch wide right side ,when copies are made and faxing

When the paper is fed through Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) is is scanned before copy or fax. The scanner is fixed type and is located just below the ADF.
The lines are due to dirty scanner mirror. The printer/ scanner design is based Sheet-Fed Scanner. Open/Lift the Control Panel (scanner top )(by pulling it up from front - the area from where the paper to scan comes out). Look out for the horizontal mirror and use a soft, damp, lint-free cloth to gently clean the scanner mirror, rollers etc. and enjoy clear scanning and copying!
Inspect for any tron pieces of paper dirt etc.DONT USE PAPER, CHEMICALS OR ANY ABRASIVE CLOTH as it may damage the parts.
Also note that your machine can scan an image only 8.15 inches wide, regardless of how wide the paper is.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Originals are not being fed into the fax.

do the rollers look worn or smooth, if so yes rollers need to be replaced. you can do a google search for canon lc9000L doc feeder rolers or you may be able to get from a local dealer. if the rollers look good could be clutch spring on roller shaft.

Original jammed in fax feeder of Brother Intellifax 2800

lift document feeder cover and look for paper. if no paper is present there are one or two switch levers that are on the bottom of feeder cover. make sure they can move freely and are not stuck.

Fax double feeds sheets

This may occur if:
-the paper is too thick or too thin
-the roller mechanism is not properly aligned or has worn out
-the sheets of paper stick together

things you can try:
-unload the paper in the main tray and bend the stack of paper to loosen it up. Reload the paper to the main tray

Hope this helps!

I have a Xerox 15i. On every sheet I print, the machine leaves a small mark/tear (1mm)on the top. Approximately 1 and 1/2 inches from the side of the sheet.

I would suspect that one of the fiser fingers has lost a spring or it is out of position.
Going form paper tray to exit, I also would look on the right side, just where the paper comes out of the paper feeder, there are some clear mylar ( plastic ) guides, inspect them for damage.
Lastly right where the paper feeds out, there are some small rommers that can pop out and cause a nick in the paper.
But more than anything I suspect a fuser finger, or even the roller baing bad.
The fuser is located inside the right door, on top. It is VERY HOT, you can remove it with the 4 silver phillips screws and inspect it.
If you need parts, google a business called " the parts drop". Give them a call, ask for Britt and they will have what you need...

Sometimes two sheets feed in instead of one.

Most faxes have a rubber separation pad which is designed to stop multi feeding. It is in the feed area.
They vary in size  but can be up to an inch square.
If they get dirty they can slip and allow more than one page to feed, if this happens you can clean it with a damp rag with a bit of detergent on it . If this does not work (give it three or four tries) you will have to replace the separation pad

Copies have black vertical line down center of the page when fed through automatic feeder, but it doesn't happen if you place them inside manually.

Check your glass and rollers where the paper feeds through the machine. Most like they just need to be cleaned. Can be done with a q-tip or tissue and a little rubbing alcohol.

Automated Document Feeder Problem

It sound like the paper is not getting recognised by the original sensor. Check for an obstruction in the feedpath - piece of paper, paper clip, pin, cockroach, apple core, tube of cake decorator (I've seen it all). Do this by opening the control panel cover (the one you open when you replace your cartridge and look through where the original feeds. Also see if the original sensor arm is in place. In the white plate there will be a black arm. The original sensor arm will be directly behind this sensor.

Paper feeding the original.

A number of solutions. Open the transmit cover and examine the paper path for obstructions, "white out" and alignment of the rollers. The exit roller is the last roller and is prone to become misaligned due to the attachment points on the lower transmit tray being actually broken. I have even seen this on so called "B" stock or warranty repaired machines right out of the box. It happens when a sheet of paper gets stopped and someone pulls it out instead of opening the transmit cover to do it. Also, sometimes the transmit cover doesn't close properly. In this case make sure it does close by using 2 hands to do it.
