Question about Jandy 131K BTU LAARS AIR ENERGY HEAT PUMP W/TITAN. HX & CHILLER

1 Answer

I have a Jandy Ae3000. I came home and found swollen pipe from the heat exchange flex pipe all the way atleast two feet past the valve going back to the pool. At one junction the pressure I guess was so great it pushed the pipe out of the fitting. Yes the valve was open. The heater is giving me a code that says low refrigerant pressure I'm not sure if this came before or after the fact. Can you tell me why this happend ? It looks like I will have to replumb the whole inside of the heater and replace the heat exchange. Heat exchange says lifetime warranty?

do you have a check valve on the system? I have seen this with a check valve that has failed. If there is no check valve, the heat pump may have been running when the pump was off. What type of timer/control system do you have?

SOURCE: Pool heater leakage

Chances are that the header or manifold is cracked. usually the heat exchanger themselves are not damaged from freeze, but either the rear manifold (header) or the front header (the one that pipes go in and out of). Sometimes both. Replacing the entire heater is not necessary, about $200 in parts usually. We have a schematic diagram of the LJ heater here: http://www.poolcenter.com/parts_heaters_lite2_lj_2003-present_pg1.htm

My high efficiency furnace has water (possibly condensation) running down the air intake pvc pipe into the furnace and all over the burner, gas valve, and wiring.

First, check the drainline from the furnace. You have a 90% gas fired furnace. Where 80% furnace has 1 heat exchanger, yours has 2 heat exchangers. And the second heat exchanger will cool the exhaust enough, that it ends up below the dew point, and your furnace outlet/exhaust will condensate. This drain is probably stopped up. Now, I've installed and service many of these systems and I've only seen the piping at the roof you described once. And that was when the roofers replaced the roof, damaged the furnace flue pipe, and tried to repair it themselves. Normally, and this may not apply to yours, we tie in the exhaust/supply lines about 2-3 ft. above the furnace. Then 1 pipe goes through the roof. Thus 1 pipe is a kit that has an inner liner & outer pipe(2 pipes in 1). Now I'm not sure if this is a problem or normal for your system, but it may be worth looking into. You should be able to find it in the installation manual, or call a local parts house that sells your brand, or as your tech. And if it's just your drain, forget all about the piping I mentioned. Hope this helps!

014 code

A 14 code means the thermal fuse (white wire which wraps around the heat exchanger) has snapped. This occurs if the heat exchanger reaches a dangerously high temperature. To correct this error code you need to replace the thermal fuse and keep the heat exchanger from over heating. Typical reasons the heat exchanger over heats are:

1) scaling in the heat exchanger
2) combustion chamber dirty and burning hot

Water will not heat past 57 the jandy control says it is set for 102-looks everything is working-is there a heater control somewhere?

Their is a heat sensor on your pipeing somewhere. It will be in a pipe and held in place by a stanles steel clamp and have a wire running back to you control. When you open your box and remove the inner cover you will follow the wire to where it pluggs in. Then simpley remove this and replace. Good luck.

hi there i am willing to bet that the pipe is for the defroster or the air vent on the drivers side. you have to look up under the dash and try and see if you can locate the air vents this can be a pain in the you know were. all you got to do to locate were it came from is turn on your heat or ac and feel under the dash and you will feel the air flow and then you know atleast were the end goes now the hard part might be getting this back up there and on
hope this helps

Does it look like a box with four flex ducts or pipes coming off of it? if so its a fresh air/ heat recovery ventilator, supposed to bring in fresh air, keep in mind, the outdoor unit does not bring in air, it is just a pump to the indoor unit. that unit may be running independently, or wired incorrectly
