Question about Leisure HOMEPRIDE Electric Fireplace Heater w/ Remote

1 Answer

I have a direct vent Heat and Glow fire Place. When you have the controller on manual it clicks the lights on the small black box to on and off alright but the burner will not come on. It fussed around for years and we used to move the black control box around and it would start to work if it was in the perfect spot. If you turn the black switch inside the fireplace to off the burner comes on, switch it back to on and the burner goes off this is how we operate it now. Was installed in 1996

How do I light pilot light?

There should not be a pilot on a direct vent furnace. When you turn up the thermostat for heat the 1st thing to happen is a venter motor should start, it should vent for approximately 45 seconds, the air switch will verify a vacuum in the burner box, then a spark igniter should start clicking to start the pilot, then the flame rod will verify the pilot, the igniter will stop clicking, and the main burner will ignite and remain on until the thermostat has satisfied the set point. These guideline steps must be satisfied before the controller advances to the next step. The 1st step is the venter motor running, sometimes the motor will stick over the summer months, spin it manually to unstick it. PS, nothing runs if the fan door cover is open, as that shuts down the power to the whole furnace.

Colt diesel takes a long time to start. glow plugs and battery are new. some one suggested glowplug relays or the black box. what can i do to check if its any of the two or what do you recommend i do

if the ignition controls the amount of time glow plugs are on for flick the ignition off and on 3-5 times each time letting the glow plug symbol glow untill it turns off then try starting. if its still slow to fire your glow plugs are not working at all. start by backtracing the glow plugs from the adjoining bar back to wherever it comes from for breaks, then replace your glow plug relay in the fuse box usually.

if its manual glowing just glow it for 10-12 seconds and try.if its not firing then the glows arent getting the power they need

I am having problems with my 1988 ford desisel

the clicking you hear shouldn't happen untill the wait to start light goes off, what you should replace is the glow plug timer, located at the rear of the the manifold under a small vented black box, this needs to stay on for 20-25 seconds in order for the glow plugs to get hot enough for start up

Glow plug light comes on but glow plug dont heat

there is a fuse link on the bulkhead or it can be located on the paneling around the engine bay ,, it is in a black plastic box about 2 inchs square the cover is just clipped in place inside you will find a silver coloured fuse link ,,,this usually burns out or blows and stops the glow plugs getting power ,,,,even though the glow light will still work,,,, replacement is simple it is held in place by 2 screws usually phillips or cross headed,,,, the fuse link is cheap and easily available,,, hope this helps

Check the air cleaner, exhaust vent for Ice or obstructions. Take off the front cover, tape down the door switch and tell us what happends. Look thru a small window for flashes of light on a control as well as an orange glow. Get back to us.

yes! The furnace goes through 4--steps for complete run time. Step -1 the small vent fan comes on, and prove it thru the small rubber tube that sucks the switch close and tells the c.b. its turnning, Step 2.. the glow plug glow and 08 seconds later, Step -3 then the gas valve open and dump in gas ,which ignites and heat up the box. and proves it got flame through a flame sensor (pin) sticking in the flame .& Step -4, the box heats up to a predetermined temp. and turn on the fan! thats all. Thank-you-very-much!

2.8l rd28t ohc 6cyl patrol y60 wagon.not all glow plugs heat up and motor runs very rough at start. glow light in dash flashers when motor has started. Glow plugs are all ok

if only 3 plugs heat, probabilly one of the two pre-heat relays is defective ( or it's command ).
The relays are located left in the engin compartment, just in front of the battery and in the battery box. They should have green connectors.
If there is no fault found at the relays, but on their 'command', the pre-heat control box is located IN te vehicle under the steering column. ( Black plastic box with 4 screws, and a 16 or 20 position connector for engines with EGR )

Hope this explanation helps

I have a Model 792864B. Before you attempt to light the pilot light - make sure that any wall control switch or remote control for the fireplace is in the off position. Locate the gas supply line. There should be a gas supply valve to turn on the gas supply. The valve is usually painted a different color than the supply line like blue, green or yellow. Open the valve by pivoting the handle to be parallel to the gas line, usually counter-clockwise. When it is closed it is at a 90 degree angle from the supply line. Locate the pilot light assembly - this is the pilot light. There should also be a red or black ignitor button and a black or green valve control knob with the words "on" "off" and "pilot" on it. It may be located inside a black box, mine is marked heatolator, that has a lift off top. Lift off the top of the box. Push in the valve control knob and turn it until the word "pilot" is in line with the arrow (my arrow is red) or indicator line. While pressing and holding in the valve control knob - it presses in about 1/4", press the red or black ignitor button repeatedly (once per second) until the pilot ignites. Once the pilot is lit, continue to hold the valve knob in for about 30 seconds and then slowly release. The pilot should remain lit. If it remains lit, press in and turn the valve control knob to the "on" position. The on/off wall or remote control switch should now light your fireplace. If the pilot doesn't ignite, turn off gas supply valve, wait about 5 minutes and try it again.
