No, you don't need a new motherboard.

Unless you're comfortable with taking the laptop apart down to the motherboard, and soldering in a new power jack, take it to a repair shop.

I would get the PCMCIA card.

You may also want to see if your laptop is internal wireless capable - internal cards are relatively inexpensive compared to PCMCIA cards or USB adapters.

As far as the difference between them, it's all personal preference. They both work well when configured correctly. It just depends if you want another cord laying around your computer area, which is why I prefer the internal cards or PCMCIA.

However, with the USB models, you can move it around for better signals (depending on the length of the wire). Some guys run a 6 foot USB extension wire on them, and put the unit on a window sill, etc.

There is not enough info here. Many things could be wrong. Are you actually plugging the VGA cable into the VGA port on the tv or computer? Does your tv even have a VGA input? Is your tbs input switched to the tv? Please contact me with questions.

Hi, There is a possibility of problems in:
  1. the adapter that you are using might be defective
  2. or the port for the power is not working
  3. or the battery fault issue
What you can do is to try another outlet to see if the outlet itself is the cause. Cheers!!

My packard bell has stoped charging

If your laptop has stopped charging and you've already replaced the AC adaptor, then most likely it's either the battery itself or the power port on your laptop. If the battery was fine up to that point then it's probably not the battery. To replace the power port can sometimes involve soldering the new port onto the motherboard of your laptop so it's usually best left to a professional. The port you can usually find on ebay. I've replaced a few that is just a small power board that plugs into the mainboard but other have to be soldered. It's not really hard to do, but it involves dismantling the whole laptop to gain access to the motherboard and sometimes requires soldering. Sometimes its very obvious and you can tell by trying to move the metal pin in the center of the plug on your laptop where it plugs in. If the center prong moves then it has become detached and must be replaced. If not it could also be a connection problem due to corossion. Without pulling it apart and looking at it, it can be hard to tell. Deptending on the extent of the work, it can cost from 50.00 - 200.00. I hope this helps.
