The fluff may be stuck in the propeller; you'll have to disassemble the machine down to the propeller to inspect/clean it
Go to this link and enter your model number, it will provide you with exploded view drawings of your unit to help you with the disassembly

HERE IS A LINK TO YOUTUBE VIDEOS CONCERNING YOUR WASHER..... BUT I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING ABOUT A TIMER. I HAVE REPLACED KENMORE TIMERS....PULL OFF THE KNOB...
REMOVE THE SCREWS THAT HOLD DOWN THE COVER WHERE THE TIMER IS LOCATED.... ONCE YOU HAVE THE COVER OFF..... GET YOUR PHONE OR CAMERA AND TAKE A PICTURE OF WHERE ALL THE DIFFERENT COLORED WIRES ARE LOCATED...SO YOU WONT BE LOST WHEN YOU INSTALL THE NEW TIMER.

I believe these are made by whirlpool and use a rubber coupling to connect the drive motor . they are five dollars and change in half an hour if your half way mechanical.

Kenmore 70 series

First thing is to remove the 2 screws from the console, they may be hidden in the front or bacl of console. After removing screws, lightly push the base of the console towards the front of the washer and pick up. This will expose your lid switch connection. Using a jumper wire, jump out the black and white wires then try advancing your washer into spin/drain. The culprit will usually be the lid switch assy.
