Question about HP LaserJet 2430n Printer

1 Answer

HP LaserJet 2430n occasionally prints goblety-gook

My hp lj2430n works great most of the time. Then without warning, will take a regular print job from Word, and print 1 to 3 lines of symbols & characters (goblety-gook) for many pages. I unplug the printer to clear it, then I get a good print of my document. What's wrong with it? Started happening in the last 1 1/2 months and as often as 2-times a day!

Re: HP LaserJet 2430n occasionally prints goblety-gook

ISSUE: When printing from the computer, you receive a line of garbage or all of the printed output comes out on one line. SOLUTION: See the following:

  1. Perform a self-test to be sure that the HP LaserJet printer is functioning properly. If the self-test is not correct, remove all cables and accessories (if any) and print a self-test again. If the self-test is still not correct, service the printer. If the self-test is correct, go to the next step.
  2. Reseat or replace the cable. Check the cable for bends or pressure applied by objects resting on the cable. A faulty cable or cables that do not meet the IEEE-1284 Standard can cause print defects by distorting signals.
