Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. This has happened due to malfunction of either the vertical deflection system or the auto format switching circuits.
You’ll need to check the vertical module and re-solder the vertical IC pins, if doesn't work replace the vertical IC with a new one and check open resistor possible 1 ohm going to flyback section. There are several things that can cause it. It is not easy to fix this yourself, if you don’t have any experience in repairing TVs as there are a lot of parts that have to be removed before you can reach the components. Also check for loose connector cables or swollen/bulged capacitors.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Samsung 60 inch plasma has developed thin vertical lines top to bottom. Changes colors rapidly. Lines are increasing from one to twelve now. Could buffer boards be fault?

Buffer boards could be at fault. Also the connectors to the boards. On more than one occasion I have put a wedge under a buffer board to make a better connection. A good repair man will test the connections as well. Main video board could cause this too.

I have evenly spaced, rows of two vertical green and red lines from top to bottom of my vizio plasma P50HDTV10A

Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.

Picture problems

There is a problem with the vertical circuit. Eventually th foldover will get worse. If you are comfortable working inside the set, with a little investigation, you should be able to resolve this yourself. If you would like to attempt the repair, update this and I'll provide additional details and instructions. Realize that this will take a few interactions to locate the defective part.

Parallel vertical lines through left side of Panasonic Plasma tv

This sounds like one of the driver boards at the bottom or top of the screen has an intermittent fault. The set will have to be taken in to a service centre.

Picture is not exactly lined up

That's in your vertical cirsuit and most likely caps that are failing.. You might notice that it gets a bit better or worse after it's been on awhile. Clearly worth the service to have a tech ESR test the caps in the vertical circuit and replace any that are questionable. Always replace C2p05 100 mfd 16 V on this set, in fact most all 100mf caps are usually found stressed.
Good Luck!

1 inch lines on top and bottom of screen

Is the picture overall too small by 1 in. on top and bottom? Or is it cut off by the lines?

If it's too small, look for an adjustment labeled Vertical Height. This may only be accessible internally, it's normally a service adjustment, not a user adjustment.

Your problem is a vertical deflection issue, either an adjustment or the vertical circuit requires repair by a technician. In the latter case, electrolytic capacitors are a likely cause.
