Netgear wgt624 does not recognize my ethernet wired connection to the internet. It tell me the cable connection is missing. What goes?

1. check your cable. It should be a "straight through cable".
2. Unplug the router for 1 minute and then power it again.
3. Call your ISP to check the status of the connection (verify).
4. check the manufacturer for firmware updates for your model router.

Is there any computer online using the router.
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings.
Click Here for more information about the routers and network

We recently moved and set up the computer. I have

Moving means that you have to setup the router again. The WEP key has to be setup again. Your old settings were for old location. Could be same settings, but they have to be setup again.

Motorola Surfboard 4220 not working with my Netgear WGT624 router

Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.

Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does not work.

Please rate.

Netgear WGT624 router won't connect to the internet

I am in the UK and have found through experience the Netgear's seem to work perfect on a BT line (equivalent of AT & T)
but not on the cable.

I would suggest purchasing a Linksys by Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router as these seem to install in minutes,
saves me hours of wasted time when setting up wireless networks.

Installed Netgear but can't send e-mail

Ya have to "Open a Port" or "Port Foward" to allow your SMTP and POP3 services to communicate with the Server.. so find out what "Ports" ya need open and using the Admin interface change them to allow your emails to work. This info is generally found in the Manual of the router or online.. And OR your firewall hust be set to pass them on thru too..
