Have you checked in the device MGR for trouble or driver update. I know this machine is dead to connection but you can use another and download driver or if you have disk update driver! or go to device MGR and uninstall it and restart and let it find it and reinstall it. Give it a shot!

Computer won't recognize driver

Turn the modem off. Disconnect the electrical power.
Reconnect the electrical power. Turn the modem on.
This "resets" the modem, and you should be good-to-go.

Or, telephone your Internet Service Provider's "Help Desk", and get them to trouble-shoot.

I have a d-link extreme g attached to a cable modem; the d-link is set for wirless. I can pick up the d-link on my ipod and laptop, however it only provides local access; no internet. I've tried everything...

I'm sure you have tried most of these steps but I'm going to list them any way so we have a complete picture of the trouble shooting process.

If your only getting local access that indicates that the router is broadcasting the wireless signal but unfortunately there is a connection issue between either the modem and router or the modem and the internet service provider. The first step is to verify that your modem is online with a good connection. If you have a working internet based phone than your in good shape. If not than you will need to research the light patterns of your modem or bypass the router to determine weather or not you have a connection to the ISP. The first step in trouble shooting a connection issue between the modem and router is to disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem and the router than reconnect it. Make sure that the cable is connected to the correct ports. Next you will want to power cycle the computer, modem, and router. To do this you will need to shout down the computer and disconnect the power cables from both the modem and router. Allow all devices to remain off for 2 minutes. Plug the modem in first. Wait for the modem to establish a connection with the internet service provider(ISP). Depending on the type of modem this can take up to 5 minutes. After a connection to the ISP has been made reconnect the power to the router. Wait about another 2 minutes for the router to establish a connection with the modem then turn on the computers in the home. From this point you will need to retest.
If you still only have local access than there is a good chance there is an issue this either the Ethernet port on the modem or router. To trouble shoot the Ethernet port on the modem you can bypass the router and power cycle the modem and PC again. If the PC has no access wile directly connect to the modem than there is an issue with the modem and will need to be replaced. The good news is that most internet service providers will replace the modem for free. If all the trouble shooting steps above have failed than you will need to contact the router manufacture directly.

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

I have the Zoom X6 (5590) DSL Modem, trouble using software

You may check the following:

1. Make sure to plug the power cube into a power strip or wall outlet and then plug the power cube's other end into the modem's power (PWR) jack.

2. You should only use the power cube with the Zoom X6. Other power cubes may damage your hardware.

3. Try another wall outlet.

4. Reset the modem. Use a paper clip and insert it into the RESET pinhole in the modem's back panel and press it 3 times. Then turn off the modem for a minute and turn it back on. Check if the power light will turn solid green.

5. Possible defective modem.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Internet

Well, I understand that the modem is SS4100, which means ther are
5lights on it being, Power, Ethernet, DSL, Internet & Activity....
Note:The trouble shooting is done according to the Light Status on the modem.
1. No matter what the proble is, the first step is to Power Cycle the modem to eliminate the static on the modem(to switch it off and back on).
2. If the Power Light is anything other than a solid green, then the modem is fried(except the fact that the adapter is plugged and working).
3. If the Power is green and Ethernet is off, then check for the LAN cable at the back
of the computer if its connected to the modem.(It turns green if connected properly)
4. If the DSL light is anything other than solid green, then call up the ISP tech's to ask why the intenet is not working.
(make sure the DSL cable is plugged firmly onto the back of the modem and the wall jack)
5. If the Power, Ethernet and the DSL is green and the internet is not, the open up the Modem page(type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar and enter for the modem page), and cross-check for the username and the password. Save the changes and your internet is working!!!
6.  The Activity light usually blinks green and it does't have much to do with the troubleshooting.
The above are the basic troubleshooting steps.
Hope it solves your problem......

Hey, i'm having trouble setting my MSI wireless router

Make sure the physical connection is correct.

- Cable/DSL Modem > connected to Internet Port of the router.
- Computer connected to port 1 on the router

First, try to reset the router. Press the reset button at the back of the router for 20 seconds, then unplug the power to the router and the modem. Wait for 30 seconds, power on modem first, wait for the lights to go solid, then power on router.

That should be all set. If not, please run the Setup CD that came with your router.
