Question about HP DeskJet 3550 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

No problem, just need to know how to change the Cyan printer cartridge. Exactly where do I open the printer to access the cartridge? Is there anything I need to be aware of before changing a cartridge? I inherited the printer and have no manuals.

I need to replace the Yellow cartridge but when I open up the front I can only see the Cyan cartridge. How do I get access to the Yellow cartridge ?

It would help if you specified the make and model, however there usually is a button on the front of the unit to rotate the carousel so you can access the other colors. let me know the specific make and model and I will tell you where exactly it is.

The printers message says cannot detect cyan ink. What does this mean

not to state the obvious but exactly what it says, for some reason the printer is not able to detect the Cyan (Blue) color cartridge in the printer, open the cover on the printer as you would to replace the cartridges, remove the blue one and refit it just incase its not sitting correctly in its holder. also check any metal contacts on the cartridge to make sure there is no dirt on them.

if this does not solve the problem i would consider the cartridge to be fautly and look at replacing it with another one.

Everytime I change my print to grayscale it prints in pink

Not knowing what sort of printer you have it's hard to pin-point exactly what the issue may be. Taking an educated guess I'm going to guess that you are using an inkjet of some sort. These printers will often use a combination of the cyan, magenta, and yellow inks to make black and shades of gray, and it is possible to get pink instead of gray if the cyan and and yellow are to low to provide a mix to produce gray. Try new ink cartridges to see if that makes any difference...some printers, like DesignJets use individual cartridges for each colour, and most small printers use a combination cartridget that contains cyan, magenta, and yellow ink in different reservoirs in the same tank.

If you are using a printer that doesn't require both the colour cartridge and the black cartridge in to function, try pulling out the colour cartridge and printing in grayscale. Most printer drivers are designed to recognize the fact that the printer only has the black cartridge in it and will automatically make the necessary adjustments.

I have a hp 7580 printer. Recently changed ink cartridges, almost immediately afterwards, i received an error code stating the printhead needed replacing. I changed the printhead as directed, rebooted to...

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

HP CP1700 - no cyan or blue printing

Try taking a look at your printheads. Have they been installed for some time. You may need to change them. Start with the Cyan first.

Hp 4600 no cyan printing

Firstoff, if you have tray 1 set to "any size" & "any type" they had problems with it going into calibration to frequently. If you upgrade the firmware this will take care of that. As for no Cyan, check the scanner interlock to insure it is opening the scanner cover. You could also go into diagnostics and disable cartridge check and swap the cartridges around, ie. cyan & magenta, run the print quality pages and see if the problem follows the cartridge. It could also be HV power supply.

Cyan cartridge

My IP4200 started doing this about a week ago it tells me I have two Cyan cartridges. I don't, cartridges are canon cartridges and were changed four months ago worked fine until now. Pressing the middle button the resume button is working eventually, so far, but I don't know for how long. Seems like a hardware problem as I deleted and reinstalled the software no difference and everything worked fine for the first four months.
