Electrical buzzing sound in a/c, furnace

What is the electrical buzzing sound coming from my Lenox furnace? Does it mean anything?

It's a relay causing the buzzing sound? Is this a dangerous situation?

I just bought this house in July and it's only eight years old. I noticed the sound when the a/c was on and now again with the furnace.

    Thank you!

What you hear is the trnasformer that cuts the voltage from 120 to 24v for the thermostat and the furnace control system. Dpending on the frequency of the house current somedays it may hum louder than other days. This is nothing to be concerned about but can get annoying sometimes if your furnace is where you can hear it easily. I have not found and quick cure for it so unfortunately you will have to just deal with it.

If this noise is comming from your control transformer or possibly a control relay you may be able to isolate it from the metal housing it is secured to with a rubber mount. Some times the noise resonates and is amplified by the screws or bolts used to secure it in place. If it is a contactor makeing the noise it may be losing its magnetic capability due to rust on its solinoid iron core.

Heat Pump makes a surging/buzzing sound every 20 seconds

You might have a short going to your reversing valve. Check the temperature of all three lines out of the valve. The one on the left should be cold and the one on the left should be warm hot. . Check voltage to the valve.if it fluctuates that might be the reason for the buzz.

Furnace is blowing cold air.

You must have an electric furnace, gas furnaces only come on when the heater is warm. Electric heaters come on with the use of a sequencer. Your sequencer, tstat, and blower is fine, which means you must have broken heating element. I have a nice pictoral of how to restring one HERE

I have a Lenox furnace. Before this igniter kicks off, there is a loud noise comes from furnace. Where is that noise from? Thanks.

This is what we call a "delayed ignition",(gas is not being ignited right away), gas builds up in the chamber and then lights causing a boom. The cause of this problem could be from having dirty burners or ignitor not position to ignite the gas right away or your ignitor may not being glowing enough to ignite the gas being released, check all, Good luck.

How do I clean a flame sensor on a 1993 Lennox Whisper Heat furnace. It heats, then the gas valve clicks and the flame briefly stops and starts again then the valve clicks again and the flame briefly stops...

You can sand the flame sensor but it sounds like another problem. Sounds like a limit switch or something in the control circuit, You need to have a service tech look at this. Ask for free estimate on repair. I have worked on hundreds of these units and they are sometimes tricky to work on. Lenox has come up with new controls for the whisper heat furnace to replace the old ones. If the flame sensor is bad the unit will try to light a few times and lock out and you ahve to kull power to the furnace to reset. If this is whats happening clean the sensor nd you should be ok If not you need help from a service tech.Rus

You mean the main plumbing supply to the house? NO WAY! Something is terribly wrong somewhere but not in your unit.
