So you have all wiring correct, you have a power light on, the amp is earthed to the chassis, you have a remote lead attached to the amp from the headunit, all fuses are ok, have you checked the adjustment dials on the amp .

REMOVE THE RCA INPUTS AND DISCONNECT THE SPEAKERS, THEN POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP WITH THIS NO INPUT, NO SPEAKER LOAD CONDITION. IF IT POWERS UP FINE,THEN PROCEED TO CONNECT THE SPEAKERS FIRST AND SEE IF IT STILL POWERS UP FINE, THEN MOVE ON TO RECONNECT THE RCA INPUTS. AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD HEAR MUSIC, IF NOT AND THE AMPLIFIER IS POWERED UP AND NOT GOING INTO PROTECTION, THEN YOU MAY HAVE AN INPUT PROBLEM FROM THE RADIO. IF THE AMPLIFIER FAILS TO POWER UP AT ALL AND YOU HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE POSITIVE AND ESPECIALLY THE GROUND CONNECTIONS, ALONG WITH THE REMOTE CONNECTIONS ARE 100%, THEN THE AMPLIFIER WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. YOU CAN CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE REMOTE TERMINAL TO MAKE SURE THAT IT ABOVE 11 VOLTS, AS SOMETIMES A FAULTY REMOTE OUTPUT FROM THE RADIO CAN SOMETIME FAIL TO TURN AN AMPLIFIER ON. REMEMBER IN ANY CASE YOU ONLY HAVE AN AMPLIFIER, AN INPUT AND A SPEAKER. USE THIS PROCESS TO HELP YOU DETERMINE WHERE THE PROBLEM IS LOCATED. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

No sound to the subs

Possible solution: Check to make sure your ground connection is connected to metal that is NOT covered in paint. This is not a solid connection and can ruin your amp over time. Simply scrap away the paint and re-connect. This was a problem i ran into recently.

Do you have the remote wire connected to the head unit?

You can also use the power antenna connection from the head unit to provide the remote on signal to the amp.

I have an older red sony xplod 500w 4ch amp. the power/protection light is glowing red. what does that mean and how do i fix it? I have no sound.

The protection light comes on if the amp overheats or if the speaker outputs are shorted.

Turn everything off and check all of your speaker wires for shorts. When you locate and repair the short, the protection light should go out and your amp will work normally again.

Hope this helps!

Sony xplod 500w 4/3 channel

If the speaker is a 4 ohm DVC (two 4 ohm coils), you can't wire it to get a single 4 ohm load. Try connecting one coil to each of the two rear channels. It may not be as loud but the amp should operate without going into protection.

If the two 4 ohm coils are in parallel, the amp is driving a 2 ohm mono load. That's probably why it's shutting down.
