Router shows good connection but no laptops in house show network

Have you successfully used this router before? Do you have EasyLink Advisor running? If not, install it from the CD and then, on each computor, open it, make sure it is running, click on the Actions tab, and click "Add more computers" and folow the instructions. Hope that helps!

I forgot my password for my wireless router, and can not sign my wifes new phone up on our wifi

When your phone asks for the password, out in the Encryption key. If you didn't print this out when you installed the router, insert the CD and install the Easylink Advisor, which wil then show up down in your taskbar in the bottom right corner of your screen. Open it, click on the Support tab, and it will show all your settings. For the password requested on your smartphone, enter the encryption key from your settings in EasyLink Advisor. That did it for me. Good luck!

I have a refurb wrt160n. I installed the cd that came with it, no problems. I connected my ps3 to it, signed on once. Now it wont let my ps3 find the access point. I try to change the security setting on...

You shouldn't need any subscription or trial period to configure the router. Just ignore that.

If you have a user manual, then look up the firewall function of the router, especially the parts about what it will and won't permit, and any rules that were set by default.

You could try resetting the unit entirely and using the default settings for the firewall.

The idea is to instruct the router to allow inbound and outbound traffic to/from the PS3. If the PS3 is using it's own port, then the router may be blocking it as it's not had instruction otherwise.

I hope this helps.

When running EasyLink advisor Router does not see internet connection, however the internet is working fine ?

Save yourself some valuable system resources and uninstall the EasyLink advisor.

Go to the Web interface for your WRT54GS router. If you didn't change the settings the address will be http://192.168.1.1

There is no username and the default password is admin. Make sure you create a strong password and change the default value. A strong password uses 6 or more characters and contains both upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.

Once you are able to log into the web interface click on status. You will be able to see if you are connected to your ISP.

Once you are configured the way you want it make sure you back up your configuration by going to Administration/Management. Click Backup Configuration and follow the instructions.

Best of Luck.

Linksys Easylink Advisor will not open up. I am trying to get in to add a new device.

Are you trying to connect a computer to the network
or it is another wireless device.
For this you don't need to use Linksys Easy link
advisor.
All you need to do is, open the router set up page
and check the settings of the router.
according to the settings on the router, you can
connect the new device to the network.
is ther any computer connected to the router?
use that cmputer to open the router set up page.

Internet connection

I think you have the software LELA (linksys easylink advisor) installed in your computer. Sometimes if it's not updated you it will prompt that you're not connected to the internet though you have internet access.

Solutions:
1) update your LELA - go to linksys.com/download
there's a field there that says enter model/serial number - just type in LELA - then click enter
- on the next page - click on get downloads then select version 3.1
- below there's an option that says download and drivers and you can see there LELA 3.1 just click on the download link and save it in your desktop folder

note: it's quite a big file - more than 200Mb
- before you install it make sure you uninstall the old LELA in your computer
- to uninstall it - just go to add/remove programs then remove linksys easylink advisor

hope this helps... Tech what you want

Exception from HRESULT: 0x88980406

There are known issues with the Linksys EasyLink Advisor (LELA). It is a very buggy piece of software that ends up causing a conflict with windows manager as indicated by your specific 0x error code. It is supposed to take the hassle out of setting up your wireless network using Linksys devices, but as you can see this isn't always the case.

The best thing to do, if you are technically inclined, is to uninstall LELA and manually configure your wireless network or hire a teenaged geek to do it for you. If you cannot do this, then try the following (no guarantees):
1. Download the latest version of LELA at http://update.linksys.com/lela/install/lela.exe and save it to your desktop.
2. If you're using XP then go to Start >> Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove Programs", find "Liknsys EasyLink Advisor" and uninstall it. If using Vista, go to Start >> Control Panel, click on "Programs", click on "Programs and Features", find "Linksys EasyLink Advisor" and uninstall it.
3. Reboot your computer.
4. Reinstall LELA by clicking on the LELA file you downloaded in step 1.
