I suggest you restart your computer and that should clear the error.

F keys only affect the operating system (they are keys that can instruct it what to do) and rarely affect the monitor unless you have them set as "hotkeys".

If you have a function button try holding it down and pressing F2, possibly the screen has been accidentally switched off.

My 'X=" isn't showing up above the "Y="

When you push the button [Y=] to open the function editor you will see Y1=,Y2= etc. That is the default behavior. By default the graph type is FUNCTION (y=f((x). However there are other graph types, for instance PARAM, POLAR, and SEQUENCE.
For Parametric graphs, you need two functions x as a function of t and y as a function of t. In this case, when you open the function editor, you will see pairs of functions x1(t), y1(t), x2(t), y2(t), etc. Both x and y functions of the pair must be supplied.

So if your x= function is not showing, then you must open the MODE screen, and scroll down to reach the 4th line that says FUNC, PAR, POL, SEQ. Highlight PAR and press ENTER. You do that only if you want to graph parametric functions.

My viewsonic VT2342 LCD monitor/Tv is not showing a display image. The screen will show the two multi-colored birds on power-up but nothing else. The monitor was working for approx. 1 yr. Of course...

I know this sounds weird but you might want to try the remote and see if you may have changed the source accidentally. Like pushing the LINE button on your VCR or DVD player. Just a thought. If all else fails call the manufacturer, they may be generous and give you some help. Viewsonic is one of the best computer monitor folks in the business.

How can I get my screen back on?

ok maybe what happened is that you accidentally enabled the external monitor function. That is when you want to connect your computer to a monitor, projector, etc. your monitor will turn black and you will be able to see the other monitor. most computers you have to press the keys Fn+ either f5 or f8 that will return to your screen.
if the configuration on your keyboard is different look for the key that says CRT/LCD and combine it with Fn if you can not find it try Fn and all the f keys on top (Fn+f1, f2, f3, etc) when you do that wait a few seconds to see if your monitor reacts.

if it works for you don't forget to rate me

thx

C500 Laptop won't come on power button just flashes

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

Screen is dark

Is this a brand new computer? Was it displaying properly before and just suddenly started showing up dark?

Most laptop monitors have a brightness control. It is possible that yours may have been inadvertently turned all the way down (it can happen accidentally). It is usually accessed by a function selector on the lower left side of the keyboard in conjunction with a function key, like F7, F8, F9, etc... you should check your manual first to be sure.

If that doesn't help, then it is possible the backlight for the LCD screen has gone dead. Those can be replaced by authorized service centers.

Laptop screen dark

Most laptops have a function key that allows you to use special color coded operations. Usually these are in blue on the keyboard. Look for on that shows a picture of two monitors side by side. One will have a sun in it. Try pressing and holding the function key and then tapping this two monitor key. This option is suppose to allow you to activate a second monitor or a projector for presentations.

Pushed wrong button

You got a clue by now and pushed that button 2 more times, right? And the Rapture happened and it went back to right? Yep. No problem. Keep that PDF manual for the monitor around for light reading, too.

It seems like the right button to push to me, too. Maybe if I had CCTV on the doorbell or backyard or something it would be; otherwise it is the one third from the left.
