If you have networking within your McAfee product such as Total Protection Internet Security Suite or VirusScan Plus (check here) you can configure it to protect both.

If you don't have a product that supports networking you need to either upgrade your McAfee subscription or get a 2nd anti-virus program.

Darn, I just posted more information on this and it didn't submit! You can use your 2 computers networked if you have easy network.. however, you need to designate one computer as the manager and then configure itl You can get instructions and troubleshooting here

Did you tried cable connection to your router to see if this works?
which windows its runing on?

If wireless connection drops its not all the time your laptop issue... its router transmitted channel conflict with laptop wireless card channel....
You might fix this by changing the router wireless setting by changing the transmission channel on it.and then re connect the laptop or it may auto reconnect with it and hopefully signal will not drop.

one is network card for cable connection to internet
one is wireless card for wireless connection to your router(with internet connection)

I will write more after I get your reply. As I am in the middle of my own issue now... ;)

Sony Vaio netbook will not connect to internet - says limited connection

That's usually your router, not the computer. Sounds like your computer is connected to your router, but IT is not connected to the internet.
I would suggest shutting down the computer, shutting down router, then the modem, plug the modem back in, waiit for lights to finish blinking (should be within a few minutes) then your router, once that's finished blinking, then turn on your computer.

My wireless hp says router cannot find host name

Double check your physical connection. It should be this way

Modem > connected to Internet Port of the router
PC > connected to port 1
Laptop > can be wireless

Now you must power cycle your router and modem. Turn off router first then modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on modem first, then the router. You must configure the wireless settings on your laptop it doesn't connect automatically.

Sony Vaio laptop unable to detect wireless access point

CompuLayne: Hello bluebells953

Netgear is quite tricky as is with all other routers, but I don't think the router is your problem. Try to do the following.

1) Turn off Vaio laptop
2) unplug router
3) unplug modem
4) plug back in modem - wait for it to boot up
5) plug back in router - wait for it to boot up
6) turn back on the Vaio - log in and see if it sees the SID. If it isn't broadcasting, you might have to enter it in manually and select connect to non broadcasting network

Cannot connect new laptop to internet

Do you have a router set up? If not two things you can do:

1) Buy and setup wireless router wired with desktop and wireless with laptop.

OR

2) Remove network cable from back of Desktop and plug into laptop each time you want to use Internet. Cheaper option but more hassle to switch back and forth.

Libog1 - did you install any additional wireless software to connect to the router (Linksys software) or are you just allowing Vista to connect directly using Windows' built-in wireless management?
