Dropped my computer and when I turn it on all I get is the Acer logo and then a black screen

The ace screen is good news.
It means you have the following working:
Screen
Power
RAM
Many other goodies

This likely means that your hard drive is loose / disconnected.
If it is a laptop there is usually a small access door on the bottom that will let you see the hard drive and see if it has come loose.

If it is a desktop there could be a cable or power plug loose.

Best case is you simply reconnect cables.
Likely you have damaged your hard drive and need to replace it.

How to repair dell vostro1014 hard drive problem

Back up all of your information to another drive. This drive is dying and needs to be replaced. Best case scenario, disc repair will only help you limp along for a short amount of time. You're better off changing out sooner than later, because you'll loose everything once the drive gives out.

It wont start up??

This seems to be an issue with this range of laptops. As the only information you've provided is it won't start we can only make assumptions. If it's still in warranty period send it back and get a refund. If not, the most common fault for this model appears to be a defective hard drive so it'll probably want replacing.

Sony vaio vgn series laptop - when xp os loading blue screen appears and display the msg hard disk drive not detected.

system not found in my experience generally leads to a damaged or loose hard drive, try to open the cover at the bottom side of the machine, and reseat the hard drive, if it still says system not found, get a 2.5 inch drive case, put your laptop drive in the case and connect it to another machine, if you can access the drive great! save all your files and once complete return the drive to your machine and try to reinstall the OS from a dvd then reinstall your files.. and if still having the same problem replace hard drive thanks.

Simpletech 250 GB Pininfarina was knocked on the floor

oped it, maybe loose cables or connections. or the worst case, a faulty hd. ticking sound means bad drive, cannot read disks. retrieve data? the better chance will be a recover technician, dont try anything else, will turn a worst problem.

How do i replace the disk drive in a gateway ml6732 laptop?

Ok. First thing, remove the battery and the power cord. Make sure you have backed up all your important information. Then, get a set of phillips screw drivers and a small flat head screw driver.
Flip your laptop so the bottom of it is what you see. With the keyboard/touchpad area facing towards you, look at the cover on your left hand side with a rectangular shape (next to it, above it, is another one square-shape. Just for reference). Loose up the two screws that secures the hard drive/bay cover against the laptop and slide the cover out towards the outside of the laptop itself. If it is sitting tight, use a pen tip or the flat head screw driver (just be careful while using this one not to scratch the plastic of your pc) to push it gently. The Hard Drive comes attached to the hard drive cover, so be careful to pay attention not to damage the cover component. Remove the hard drive and secure the new one in place. Now do this steps the opposite way. Good luck, hope it helps.

P.S.: If this explanation helped you out, please leave a review.

My acer will not pick up the hard drive. It does

If the drive was visible before but is not showing up now, most likely you have had a hard drive crash and will need to replace the drive. You might try taking the drive out and reinstalling it on the outside possibility that you may have a loose connection but, based on the information posted, if the computer is not seeing the drive at all, it will more than likely need to be replaced.

My HP a1700n hard drive is failing. Can I replace

Its not difficult at all. Find a hard drive that you want to use, next get a case that you want to use as well then install the drive into the case. Next you need to figure out whether you want to hook it up by usb, firewire, SATA, etc. Then hook it up that way and fdisk, format and then install the operating system you want to on it.

In fact some hard drives now come with there own cases as well and can be as low as like $99 so really its the way that you want to do it. Just make sure you get the size hard drive you want and then the case you want to use for the connection type you want to use, with USB just plug it into a slot outside of the computer, SATA will require you to plug it into the inside of the computer and firewire would hookup outside of the computer.

SATA would be the fastest but would require you leaving the side panel off cause it would need to hook up inside of the computer.

Primary IDE master not detected

Hi darchie_1213,

Power off the system & unplug the power cord. Open your PC case. To remove any static build up from your body, touch the metal bottom of the case before touching any internal parts.
It sound like the primary IDE data cable is loose or the power cable to the drive is loose. Try disconnecting both & than re-connect them. If that does not stop the issue, replace the data cable for the primary IDE drive. Click on the link provided. The site will explain IDE connections & the differences between a 40-pin IDE data cable & an 80-pin data cable. (Pictures included & lots of helpful information).
http://www.mikeshardware.com/howtos/howto_connect_ide_hd.html

Try the above first. If the problem continues the issue could be the hard disk drive.

Replacing a lifebook c series (c-4155) notebook hard drive..How To??

do you have a picture of the bottom of the laptop? if this dosen't help, can you post a picture? personally i don't have a lifebook and i really only know how to replace it if i can see it. i know with my toshiba satellite l10, on the bottom there is a symbol of a laptop, on the bay of the hard drive casing. if you undo the screw on the bottom of this bay, yo will be able to see the hard drive, in most cases 150mm x 100mm x 10mm and silver and compact. i you slide this out and put the matching hard drive in, and match up the pins, carefull not to break or bend any.
Hope this helped,
Regards,
Vistapro
