Question about Canon BubbleJet i9950 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

I want to switch motherboards between two Canon i9900 printers. I stopped at the ribbon cable connectors (jcr1, 2 and 3)because I am not sure of their attachment (on the board). One of the 3 has a teeny little clamp on the socket and the cable just slips out. The other two are different and I'm not sure if the connectors yank off or if the cables slip out.

Only the one has a clamp, the others just slip out, they are for the printhead and carriage. Be careful though, inserting the ones that slip in. Sometimes the conductor on the end of the cable will curl back and short out. If it does peel, just cut the end.

I9900 canon printer: does not show any power when turn on.

General NO POWER troubleshooting:

- Try a different known working power outlet (direct to wall preferred)

- Try a different power cable (may not be possible if the cable is attached to a power brick)

- Does it power on (makes some noise) but no lights display or simple no power at all,
if no power and the first two steps still lead to no power next step would be to replace the power supply and or the power plug connector (depending on the PSU)
if it makes noise when you power up but no lights the printer may still be functional but the control panel is damaged

My old i9900 printer program is for a 32 bit intel platform only. I now have new compaq windows 7. What do I need to make i9900 compatable. Could a new printer cable work??

You will need new Windows 7 software drivers for this model and I don't think that Canon has released any. Check their website (www.usa.canon.com) and see if they are available. Good Luck . . . .

My canon i9900 prints photos with an over abundance of red

Check your inks and make sure you don't have photo cyan where the cyan should be, and print a nozzle check to see that all colors are printing. Also make sure photo magenta and regular magenta are in the right places.

My canon i9900 printer wont install on my Windows 7 computer. What to do?

Instead of trying to use the CD-ROM that came with the printer, access the manufacturer's web-site: http://www.canon.com and click "Support".

Find the latest device-drivers for your "i9900" printer that are compatible with Windows 7. Download them, and install them.

Canon i9900 will not power up

There's a new power supply available at http://www.beckscrs.com/partlist.php for $61.20, part #QK1-0311-000 or at http://www.vancebaldwin.com/products/?CAN&start=1601 for $60.70. The original power supply shows part number Canon K30212 on it. If replacing the power supply/adapter doesn't resolve the problem of the Canon i9900 not powering on at all, the part number for the logic board is QM2-1273-000 from Beckscrs.com for $225.
